Betsy Dirksen Londrigan Well-Positioned in 13th District Primary

According to the findings from a recent survey, the race for the Democratic nomination
in Illinois’ 13th Congressional District is shaping up well for Betsy Dirksen Londrigan. Despite
this being her first run for office, Londrigan is already tied 19 - 19 percent with David Gill who
has run for this seat multiple times.1 Once voters hear messages about the candidates, she surges
into the lead.

The findings are quite clear—Londrigan connects with voters and if she has the resources
to communicate with 13th District Democrats, she is well-positioned to win the nomination.

• Londrigan, Gill tied—Gill’s support limited in most of the district. Londrigan and Gill
are tied at 19 percent, with Erik Jones (13 percent) and Jon Ebel (4 percent) far behind.
More than 4-in-10 (44 percent) of voters remain undecided. The ability to communicate
here will be a difference maker in an unsettled field.

David Gill holds a lead in the smaller Peoria market (roughly 11 percent of the
electorate), where he fares most strongly. Beyond that, however, his multiple runs in
previous cycles do not translate into much support. Londrigan has her own base of
support, winning 31 percent in the central part of the district, in the areas including
Sangamon and Macon Counties.

• Positive messages move the race towards Londrigan. After voters hear positive
messages from all of the candidates, Londrigan surges into the lead. Londrigan’s share of
the vote rises to 34 percent, with Jones and Gill at 20 percent and Ebel back in single
digits at 9 percent.

• Londrigan’s strongest message doubles her vote share. When 13th District voters hear
the following message from Londrigan, her vote share doubles, from 19 percent up to 38
percent, putting her head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

for Congress because she's disgusted by Donald Trump and the Republicans in
Congress who are enabling his out-of-control behavior and scary attacks on our
