The graph below shows the global consumption of water in km3 in three different sectors,

Agriculture, industrial and domestic from 1900 to 2000. Meanwhile, the graph shows the
consumption of water in two countries, Congo and Brazil in 2000.

Overall, the consumption of water has increased in the last century in all of these sectors, even
more, if we are talking about agriculture that had a trend ascent through those years.

The consumption of domestic and industrial water in 1900 were minimum, if we compare it
with the agriculture consumption in this year that was around 500km3. After that, the
consumption trend in agriculture shot up, but the industrial and domestic were stable until
1960 when both started to rise and reached, in industrial use 1000km3 of water, and less in
domestic use with no more than 500km3.

At the same time, the consumption of water in agriculture reached a pick in 2000 with 3000
km3. We can see in detail the consumption of water in this year in the table that represent two
different countries as brazil with 176 million people and Democratic Republic of Congo with
just 5.2 m. people. In one hand, Brazil had 26,500 km2 of irrigated land and a consumption of
water per person of 359km3. In the other hand, the Democratic Republic of Congo had
100km2 of irrigated land and 8m3 of water consumption per person.
