Lesson Duration: 45 minutes

This lesson is adapted for auditory impairment. Please keep in mind that some of these adaptions
will already be in place prior to this lesson. Adapting lessons for auditory impairment means
focusing on visual cues instead of verbal cues.
For example: specific hand motions to have students; ‘sit’ ‘stand’ ‘go’ ‘stop’, etc.

MATERIALS/ EQUIPMENT/ SET UP


 Whiteboard
 Expo markers
 Station signs
 Various equipment related to stations (see station signs)
 Pencils
 Exit slips
 Visual timer
Set up: group supplies with associated instruction sheets and space them throughout the
gym before the lesson.
PROCEDURE
Introduction (5 min.):
Attention Grabber: Stations already set up when students walk in and whiteboard visual.
Assessment of Prior Knowledge: N/A
Connection to Curriculum: See above outcomes
Expectations for Learning and Behaviour: Listening and following along to instructions
throughout lesson. Initial expectation is for students to find a partner, as they will be working
together through the rest of the class.
Advance Organizer/Agenda: Written on a mobile whiteboard for all students to see:
“fitness and body movement”
2. 5 minute stations are set up around the gym
3. Visual timer at the front – when it runs out, you will move clockwise to your next station.
Teacher and students will raise their hand above their head once they have confirmed that
the timer has run out
3. Partners are to do activities together once you read and understood the stations
instructions
4. No more than 4 people at a station (2 groups)
5. Stations will begin when teacher raises their hand above their head – find a station to start
at
6. Once you have a partner and you have read the instructions start warming up with:
- 20 jumping jacks
- 20 high knees
- 20 butt kicks

Transition to Body:
Teacher will confirm that all students have a partner and have read and understood the

procedure. Once students have completed their warm up, the teacher will raise their hand to
show students to begin the movement to their stations

1. Bosu balls
2. Balance boards

Instructions:

1 minute – Bosu balance

1 minute – balance board balance

1 minute – 1 leg warrior (top image)

1 minute – calf raises (middle image)

1 minute – tree pose (bottom image)

1. Army crawl to the gym doors

2. Walk in the hall to the nearest water fountain

If back early:
1. 10 “explosions”
- with your feet planted on the ground, tuck yourself
into a ball. The exploding motion is jumping and
extending/stretching your body as big and high as you can.
