 MOTIVATION LETTER

I’ve been through so many moments in my life that keep forced me to make a tough
decisions. Even some of them made me jump out of my comfort zone. I knew there’s no and
there’ll no good enough reason that can make me stay in my comfort zone. So that once
again, I’ll challenge myself and make it brave enough to compete with all medical students in
Indonesia that participate in this SCOPE Professional Exchange Programme. Because one
thing that I also knew, that without sacrifice and hard work, you will never get what you
always wanted.
Studying abroad always been one of my big dreams since I was an elementary
student. That’s why I keep practicing my English ability until now, eventhough i'm fully
realize the fact that i have to study to maintain my dream to be a doctor as well. I also
participate in various international events held in Indonesia as an organizing committee in
order to talk directly to foreigner I met, so that I'll know how good my English ability. Now
that I’m a 3rd year in preclinical medical school and close to start the clinical year, I think
there’ll be no boundaries that can prevent me to chase my dream to studying abroad. And I
will use this opportunity as well as possible.
The opportunity to studying and clerkship abroad for a month is a rare one. With my
parent’s permission and support, I’m hoping that I can build a good experience and meet new
people there. I hope the knowledge I’ll gain will useful for me and another. Furthermore, this
exchange programme won’t give me just an opportunity to study abroad, but also living in a
new environment will enable me to become more responsible to live by my own.
After checking some of the requirements in each country, I’ve decided to choose
Italy, Slovenia, Turkey, and Thailand as priorities for my desired countries. The reason why I
choose most of the European countries as my priorities because I want to know how they
handle many diseases there, especially when the country is not a tropical country. I eager to
learn new things that I can get there, because what I believe is there’s no useless knowledge.
And then I’ve decided to choose Surgery-General Department because here while I’m still a
preclinical medical student, I haven’t see a surgery directly. And it is an indisputable fact that
European countries has the best medical facility that can held a correct, proper, and satisfying
surgery. I want to get the knowledge about surgery as much as I can, because I want to be a
surgeon one day.
Overall, i am really convinced that studying and clerkship abroad will be a great
opportunity and new wonderful challenge for me, but I am ready to tackle it with all its
difficulties and uncertainties. I do believe that the knowledge and experience I can gain in
SCOPE Professional Exchange could add value to my personal qualities and skills and will
contribute further to my surgeon career goals.
