Chapter 3

METHODS AND PROCEDURES

This Chapter presents the methods and procedures,

sampling technique, the measuring instrument, the data

gathering procedure and the statistical tools that will be

used in this study.

Research Design

This study will be employed the descriptive method

since the questions are involved on the community

development program of Barangay Officials of Amulung,

Cagayan.

Respondents of the Study

Respondents of the study will be 8 barangay officials

and at least 10 community residents to be selected each

from five barangays of the municipality, namely; Centro,

Baculud, Estefania, Concepcion and Anquiray, all of

Amulung, Cagayan.

Centro 8 10
Baculud 8 10
Estefania 8 10
Concepcion 8 10
Anquiray 8 10
Total 40 50

Data Gathering Tool

The instrument to be used will be the questionnaire-

checklist which consist of a number of items that the

respondents have to answer in a set format. It is a

research instrument consisting series of items for the

purpose of gathering information from the respondents about

the community development program of Brgy Officials at

Centro, Baculud, Estefania, Concepcion and Anquiray, all of

Amulung, Cagayan.

Data Gathering Procedure

Upon its approval, the researchers will administer the

questionnaire-checklist to the respondents. After granting

permission by the Chief of Police of Delfin Albano Police

Station, the researchers will personally administer and

explain the mechanics in answering the questionnaire-

checklist to each respondent.

Statistical Tool

The statistical tools to be used in the study are the

following:

1) Frequency Distribution. It is a statistical

procedure that involves listing all possible measures of

variable and tallied each datum on the listing. This is

done by categorizing and tabulating the frequency of each

occurrence.

2) Percentage Distribution. This is utilized by the

researchers to get the proportion of a part of the whole.

The researchers used this formula:

Frequency

Percentage (%) = x

100

Number of Population

For the description of respondents on the level of

effectiveness with regard to the issues, the following will

be used the Weighted mean.

The formula for finding the weighted mean is:

WM = TWF
N
Where:

TWF = Total Weighted Formula

27

WM = Weighted Mean

N = Total Number of responses from participants

3. To determine if there is a significant relationship

between the degree of problems encountered by the CCDJ

personnel to the level of efficiency of the CCDJ personnel

in terms of delivering prisoners, the assessment was

evaluated using Pearson’s correlation coefficient.

Formula:

Where:

N = number of pairs of scores

∑xy = sum of the products of paired scores

∑x = sum of x scores

∑y = sum of y scores

∑x2 = sum of squared x scores

∑y2 = sum of squared y scores
