POSITION SUMMARY: A dishwasher plays a role in upholding a clean, sanitary and safe
food environment. A full-time dishwasher is needed at Custom Catering to work Monday to
Friday, 8am to 5pm to help deliver safe, high-quality food to its customers. Dishwashers are
responsible for cleaning, transporting and storing all dishware and maintaining cleanliness in the
dish room, kitchen and waste receptacle area. To prevent contamination and foodborne illness,
dishwashers utilize manual methods, a 3-compartment sink and dishwasher to clean and sanitize
all dishware.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Washes and scrubs cutlery, pots, pans, trays by hand
 Cleans and sanitizes all dishware using the 3-compartment sink and dishwasher.
 Dries, sorts and stacks clean dishes and transport clean dishes to cook’s line or designated
storage area. Must re-wash all soiled dishware before delivery and storage.
 Washes hands after handling soiled dishes and before handling clean dishes.
 Maintains 3-compartment sink in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
 Cleans and rolls/unrolls mats in kitchen and dish room areas
 Collects and removes garbage from kitchen and dish room to waste receptacle area.
Relines garbage cans with new bags and cleans garbage cans according to pre-established
schedule.
 Disassembles, cleans, sanitizes, and reassembles dishwasher according to pre-established
schedule
 Monitors dishwasher wash and rinse cycle temperatures. Immediately notifies Kitchen
Manager when the temperatures fall below safety standard temperatures.
 Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of all areas in dish room, kitchen and waste
receptacle area. Includes wiping up any spills to maintain dry floors, sweeping and
mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing all counter tops and surfaces in the kitchen and
dish room, and sweeping up trash around waste receptacle area.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
 High-school diploma or GED equivalent.
 Must be able to read and understand labels on cleaning chemicals
Physical Requirements:
 Must be able to stand for extended time periods and occasionally stoop, kneel, twist,
bend, climb, balance, and reach.
 Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs. push wheeled carts weighing
up to 50 lbs.
 Must be able to perform continuous, receptive movements
 Must be able to work in a noisy, hot and humid environment. Dishwashers are regularly
exposed to hot water, cleaning chemicals, garbage disposals and potentially slippery
floors.
Experience: Experience working in a commercial kitchen is preferred but not required.
