Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA)
Driven by vision fuelled with desire as the delegates from the dif-
ferent schools division of the Department of Education marched
around the downtown of the Calbayog City that brings shine despite
the heavy rain. It is indeed an evidence that we are gathered in this
event to become one.
Each schools’ division has its own unique yell and dance to boost its
division as they marched around the city. Streams with the vivid
uniforms and props there is always one who will shine and fulfil the
taste of the audiences. BayBay City Division “Ato ni Bay” boosted
their warm spirit in the sports and with a unique choreography as
it is highlighted with the use of the colour green umbrella. Biliran,
Boronggan, Catbalogan and Eastern Samar City Division powered
with their own stunning uniforms, balloons and banners. Leyte Divi-
sion “Leyte Conquerors” marched in full enthusiasm and highlighted
with the unique choreography as the delegates showcase
their warm spirit and good character in the said event.
However, Maasin City Division “Maasin City Tigers”
marched with its entertaining tiger mascott that caught
the attention of the audience while the Northern Samar
Division “Norte Eagles” has all the delegates have the
wings to adhere their claim manifested in their banner
as well. Moreover, the division of Ormoc City “Siglaro Elites”,
Samar “ Sparkers”, Southern Leyte “Whale Sharks”,
Tacloban City “Red Stallions”and Calbayog City “Calbayog
Supersonics” highlighted with grand uniforms and
props in accordance with their banner.
March on. Do not tarry. Marching on is moving forward
to the goal that is built with a good character
and the spirit of sportsmanship.
-It’s always interesting to hear
of athletes strut on stage like

Leyte Unleashed Both play middle attackers, the two consistent
honor students have been hurdling the challenges
brought by volleyball practices and pageant
preparations to make them competitive
and at the top of their games.

Ms. Leyte
Carmelarose M. Toriano of Dulag National High
School, a Grade 12 HUMMS student, was an athlete
first before joining school beauty contests and walking
the runway. She was crowned Ms. Dulag NHS
Intramurals 2017. Her slender physique has been
her asset which can be attributed to volleyb
all trainings. As a youngster, Carmela loved watching
volleyball games of her idol Allysa Valdez
and was fascinated by the strength and beautiful forms
of the spiker. She especially likes how
volleyball has helped her develop confidence and endurance.

Mr. Leyte
Elifred Gandeza of Tanuan School of Craftsmanship
and Home Industries’ experience and exposure in local
beauty contests is his advantage in his quest to get
the Mr Dep Ed Eastern Visayas crown.
His biggest accomplishment is when he was hailed
as Mr. Tanuan 2016 2nd runner up and reaped various
awards such as Best in Beach Wear, Best in production
Wear, and Mr. Formal Wear. But despite this,
he keeps modest expectations and acknowledges
a tough competition ahead.
A day before the coronation night, the two are hopeful
to emerge victorious and they are determined to bring
the same level of confidencethey bring on the court to the runway.
