The Grand Lake Ecosystem Experiment (GLEE), a


cooperative project between Bowling Green University,
Algaeventure Systems and the City of Celina, will treat a
controlled area with silica (sand) to help non-toxic, nutrient-
rich, diatom dominant green algae to grow and out-compete
the harmful blue-green algae, with the goal of a cleaner
lake and improved fisheries. The green algae is considered
suitable for green energy production.
A second project involves dosing six controlled areas of

in the water column, then carry it to the bottom of the lake
and bind it in the sediment, making it unavailable for blue-
