What is Osteoporosis?
 Osteoporosis means porous bones, where it becomes less dense or more porous. When this
happens, bones becomes weak and more likely to break

 Both men and women suffer osteoporosis but women are at higher risk.

 Consequences of Osteoporosis

Broken hip-majority of those who survive are disabled and only 25% will resume normal activity

Vertebral fracture- usually the pain starts suddenly and worsens when a person stands or walks

Wrist fracture- some of the symptoms are pain, swelling and tender wrist. Surgical may be required and
followed by splinting.
