most important responsibilities is to provide services to
our area’s approximately 3 million annual visitors. The
official Sedona Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, lo-
cated in Uptown Sedona at the corner of State Route 89A
and Forest Road, is open daily, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., except
Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
The Visitor Center is the place to obtain maps and
various publications; purchase a Red Rock Pass or
national passes, which might be required for parking in
the National Forest; and receive directions and sugges-
tions from well-informed, courteous staff members and
volunteers.
The center also provides information about sightsee-
ing, hiking, recreational and cultural activities, special
events, weather, climate, history, driving distances and
routes, transportation options and environmental con-
ditions. Looking for ideas on what to see and where to
dine? We can make suggestions. Additionally, the staff
and volunteers can answer questions about Sedona demo-
graphics, churches, schools, local government and media,
Sedona Film Office services, events, civic and nonprofit
organizations and facilities, historical sites, Coconino
National Forest, state or national parks and monuments
and nearby Native American communities.

THE ART OF SEDONA

COURTESY OF MICHAEL THOMPSON

KELLI KLYMENKO
The astonishing beauty of Sedona inspires
and excites. It touches something deep
within us. We want to hold on to that feeling.
That’s where art comes in. Visitors can find
everything from Western bronzes, whimsical
kinetic sculptures, contemporary jewelry,
Native American kachinas and weavings,
fine art paintings, large format photography,
stained glass, ceramics, woodcarvings,
architectural decor pieces and many more.
Art galleries are woven into the fabric
of Sedona. You’ll find many in Uptown and
tucked away at Hyatt Pinon Pointe Shops,
Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, Hillside
Sedona and others strung along State Route
179 in such clustered concentration it’s
become known as Gallery Row. And don’t
forget West Sedona, which is host to a
number of incredible galleries, too. Sedona Plein Air Festival draws artists and art lovers.

On the first Friday of the month, dozens of Sedona’s preeminent art galleries stay
open into the evening hosting special events, demonstrations and receptions. Light and
music spills from open doors as patrons savor the textures, colors and details of these
vibrant one-of-a-kind expressions of art. 1st Friday in the Galleries is organized by the
Sedona Gallery Association.
Every season brings another artistic gathering such as Sedona Open Studios Tour,
Susan Kliewer’s bronze Navajo Pow Wow Dancer
Sedona Arts Festival and Sedona Plein Air Festival.

LUNCH THAT’S GOOD FOR YOU

Midday, fuel up with healthful foods. Along with vegan and organic
restaurants, many of Sedona’s eateries also offer healthy menu choices.
At one organic restaurant, you can have a guilt-free lunch of
organic melon salad and a portobello mushroom sandwich—or cheat a
little with a side of yucca root fries. Not far away, an Italian restaurant
specializes in pizzas made with organic and local ingredients, includ-
ing a gluten-free crust option with toppings such as fig and gorgonzola.
Another nearby restaurant is strictly organic and vegan, serving up wheatgrass
shots, a kale-based green goddess salad and a Southwestern corn chowder
entrée. Save room for decadent desserts made with healthy ingredients, such as
lemon crème pie.

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK

Sedona sits approximately 100 miles south of one of the
seven natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon. When traveling by
land—several local businesses also offer air tours—you can enter the park
by train or by car.
If you choose to go by train, head to Williams and visit Bearizona, a
drive-through wildlife park showcasing some of the animals that call
the canyon home. The classic train cars of the Grand Canyon Railway
depart daily at 9:30 a.m. for a 2¼-hour journey featuring costumed singers,
storytellers and even train robbers.
If you opt to drive instead, take State Route 89A from Sedona to
Flagstaff. Continue on US Highway 180 to State Route 64 into Tusayan.
Here, stop at the National Geographic Visitor Center, where you’ll find

east on State Route 264. Although you might want to arrange for

Staying on State Route 264 leads you to Canyon de Chelly

There’s more to what you see than what you see.

Your stay at Enchantment doesn’t end with the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Sedona’s
Boynton Canyon. There’s also access to Mii amo, named by Travel + Leisure as one of
the world’s best destination spas, and exclusive privileges at our Tom Weiskopf-designed
Seven Canyons championship golf course. And those are just the highlights.
See what makes Enchantment an experience of extraordinary proportions.
