records set to the currently selected room.
Room Tab 2/8

Lights Tab - Lets you set some attributes for your lighting equipment. Can associate bulbs with ballast so
you can track the time together. If both are set to auto-track you can automatically increment the used
hours to both items based on the light cycle. To do this first enable auto-track on both items, go to the
options -> auto-magic tab and set the start date. When your cycle ends go back to the auto-magic tab
and set the end date and then hit the commit time button.
Room Tab 3/8

Environment Tab - You can use this tab to track environmental variables. Is all manual entry, if you want
automated environmental logging look at the sensor tab.
Room Tab 4/8

Sensor Tab - Only has support for the sparkfun weatherboard currently. We’re collecting a fewer of the
latest and greatest sensors this year to replace this old section.
Room Tab 5/8

Reservoir Tab - Used to track different metrics on your reservoir. You can use the last cleaned and
changed date on the home tab as a quick reminder.
Room Tab 5/8

Reservoir Tab - You can track common water statistics here on the meter reading tab.
Room Tab 6/8

Fans Tab - You’re able to track fan stats here, basic stuff like CFM and overall usage.
Room Tab 7/8

Nutes Tab - Here you can track your nutes stats. If you use the mix & feed tab it will automatically de-
duct nutrients from the amount remaining.
Room Tab 7/8

Mix & Feed - Add Nutrients - Here you want to add the different nutrients your distributing to your
plants. It’s setup like your adding all your nutrients to a big watering container and then distributing the
mix to your plants evenly.
Room Tab 7/8

Mix & Feed - Distribute to plants - Here you want to choose the plants your adding your mix to. It will
assume your distributing an equal amount to your plants.
Room Tab 7/8

Mix & Feed - Distribute to plants - After you distribute your nutrients it will remove the amount you add-
ed from the amount remaining for each nutrient used. If you have auto-events enabled it will record
the nutrients you distributed as an individual plant event with the total amount entered in the notes
field.
Room Tab 8/8

Containers - The containers tab is used to track your container stats. Pretty hard to believe huh?
Patients Tab

Patients Tab - If you’re a medical grower you may want to use this tab to make sure you stay in compli-
ance with your state and/or city laws.
Finances Tab

Finances Tab - Super basic, money in and money out. You can graph your expenses and income on the
total tab.
Notes Tab

Notes Tab - If you want to record notes that don’t really fit on any other tab you can put them here.
Webserver Tab

Webserver Tab - If you download mono from the link at the bottom of the page you can install it and use
to host a webserver from your computer. If you have multiple ip addresses and/or network cards you
can specify which ip it will listen on. By default it will listen on all of your cards/ips. We currently sup-
port the latest 2.x version of mono, 3.x is broken out of the box still so we only include a 2.x link.
Webserver Tab

If you have a wireless device like a smart phone or tablet and your garden is in range of your wireless
network you can use this to go into your room and update the plant stats remotely. You want to hit the
on button at the top of the Webserver tab, the big box in the middle will list the url(s) to use. Go to that
url from another device and you’ll see the herb.iq web interface. Update your plants and come back
and hit the off button on the webserver tab. Herb.iq will reload your data file with your updated plant
stats.
Options Tab 1/7

In the top left section, on the view tab you can set the type of scaling you want when the app is resized
or maximized. Below that you use the “Use Target Date on Home Tab” checkbox to set the date and
count down until the target date is reached. Below that you can choose to show the sensor data on the
home tab, or not.
Options Tab 1/7

In the top right section, on the view tab you can add or remove phases that you want to use. It won’t
allow you to delete a phase if there are currently any plant records set to it so make sure to move them
before trying to remove a phase.
Options Tab 1/7

In the bottom section, on the view tab you can customize what’s displayed on the home tab. You can
use any of the available single phases to populate a A,B,C, or D quadrant of the home tab. One of the
coming releases will enable you to combine multiple phases in each quadrant.
Options Tab 2/7

On the second options tab you can set the viewable tabs here. If you aren’t going to use a section you
can remove it from view to it’s easier to navigate around to what you do want to see.
Options Tab 3/7

On the third options tab you can choose to use the built-in encryption to protect your data when the
program isn’t running. If the program crashes or your computer suddenly loses power your data will
revert back to unencrypted and you’ll have to go back here to re-enable it. There used to be a message
here suggestion using truecrypt but since that program went into unsupported status and has possibly
been compromised we now recommend some of the other available open source options.
Options Tab 4/7

Options will come and go from this tab quite a bit, right now there are only two remaining. Check data
file lock before saving will make sure that another sources hasn’t written an update to the data before
it’s overwritten. If it has it will reload the newer data and disregard any changes you had previously
tried to save. Auto-Refresh on data file change will probably be removed soon. This updated the GUI
when you save any changes back to the data file which you would most likely always want to see.
Options Tab 5/7

Options tab five is where you can go to manually export and backup your data file or import it from an-
other location. You can also choose whether or not you want to backup the data file when the program
is launched and how many of those backups you want to keep. The oldest will be purged once you
reach the limit set here.
Options Tab 6/7

The autoevents section is for automating certain functions to save you time. If you check the first ena-
ble auto-events checkbox any plant record will be populated with events when you move plants to
different phases or use the mix and feed section.
The default events are custom events you can add on the plants events tab. These will show up as a
drop down item on the events and reports tabs.
Options Tab 6/7

The Autotrack section is for committing time to your plant records. To start you enter a date in the start
tracking date control and then hit the save start date button. You also need to enabled auto-track on
the plant, ballast, bulb, and any other trackable item. When your done with your cycle, enter the ending
date in the stop tracking date control and then hit the commit tracking time button. The trackable items
will save the time to the hours or events for that item based on the light cycle of the room they are in if
it’s applicable. This way you can track the amount of time your equipment is used.
Options Tab 7/7

The about tab will contain the most up to date contact info for the project. As we change homes over
time this tab will get updated with the urls of the current sites.
