In-Basket Item # 13 Send email now I would send an email acknowledging his
requests but would include information about
the fact that our school already requires our
teachers to have conferences, with all parents
not just those in danger of failing. I would be
prepared to share sign in sheets, schedules and
parent communication letters.
In-Basket Item # 14 Call Peg Now I would attempt to call Peg now since it is
Saturday to find out where the enrollment
stands. I would be prepared on Monday to
assign the students to a class so that there is no
delay since they are homeless and can’t be
denied enrollment. I would have the counselor
and social worker on hand as well to make the
entry as smooth as possible. Once enrolled, our
team would make every effort to seek resources
for these students.
In-Basket Item # 15 Text Al now I would quickly text Al to dispose of the
Follow up on “evidence” and let him know I would handle
issue during the this matter. Before proceeding, I would seek
week counsel on this issue.
In-Basket Item # 16 Within the I would send a letter (or ask my AP to) stating
month they would need to send their request to our
central office personnel that is in charge of
handling these types of request. I would include
the contact name and number.
In-Basket Item # 17 By Dec 20 I would make an effort to speak to one or more
of the students in passing as I made daily walk
throughs around the school to let them know I
am taking their requests into consideration. In
the meantime, I would set up for the students to
share their food request with the cafe manager
and even the head of child nutrition so they can
share the policies regarding school lunch with
the student to better inform them. I would also
explain to the students that music would be a
nice addition but in all fairness, we would need
to do an official poll to make sure we had input
from all students regarding this matter.
In-Basket Item # 18 Call back by Have my AP call since he/she is in charge of
Wednesday buses and explain that the parent must fill out
the online transportation request form before her
child can be assigned to a bus. This is system
policy. Until approved, the child will need to be
a car student.
In-Basket Item # 19 Set up a time on Prior to the meeting, I would gather copies of
Tues after 2:30 the prescribed curriculum and his lesson plans
to meet with Mr. to have on hand during the meeting. I would
Love then share the parent’s concerns and ask for his
contact the response. I would gain as much clarity from our
parent. meeting as possible and discuss next steps with
him for future classes. I would also address the
“hands off “ policy that our school has and how
this may present a conflict with any actions he
may have his students engaging in. Once I have
a clear picture of the classroom and his
instruction, I will follow up with the parent with
a phone call and conference if requested.
In-Basket Item # 20 conversation After talking to AP, I would follow up by
with AP before getting more information from HR about staff
staff meeting on involvement in these issues and what their rights
Monday. are. I would draft a letter to the teacher
expressing concern about this matter and would
include any guidance that HR offers as how she
should proceed. I would include the previous
complaint about the button she wore as well.
In-Basket Item # 21 Act now Quick email to the teacher giving her
permission as long as her plans are in order, she
lets others know when she will be out of the
building (take a radio if possible) and that the
area she chooses is suitable for effective
instruction.
In-Basket Item # 22 Monday before Contact HR for guidance and follow CO
school protocol
In-Basket Item # 23 Within the week Send email asking her for suggestions of what
would improve her moral. I would ask if she
could send out a survey to help identify problem
areas. In the meantime, I would make an effort
to pay attention to the climate and attitudes of
my staff. I would also try to plan a social event
before the holiday break if one has not already
been scheduled.
In-Basket Item # 24 By mid Dec. Delegate the task of sending an email to this
organization to the AP asking for specific
presentation plans and how the program will
appropriate address the elementary curriculum
and age level of the students.
In-Basket Item # 25 Act now I would send a quick email to the teacher letting
him know I am aware of his concern. I would
ask that he forward me all documentation of
disciplinary action and parent contacts that he
has had regarding this student. I would also ask
for a copy of his rules and expectations that
were posted and shared with parents from day
one. I would explain that I just want to be as
prepared as possible when acting on his behalf.
However, if the issues are stemming from lack
of organization and management on his part,
this too will be addressed.
In-Basket Item # 26 Within a day or After contacting HR for input, I would draft a
so letter to the parent that thanks them for their
concern, asks that they contain this information
so that facts do not become clouded by
assumptions and gossip, and make it clear that
this is a matter that HR will be involved in at the
system level. Afterwhich, I conduct an
investigation based on the advisement of HR.
In-Basket Item # 27 Monday I would ask my receptionist to return the call for
(ambiguous) the purpose of gathering specific details to the
nature of the call. The nature of the issue would
then determine my next actions.
In-Basket Item # 28 Call by end of I would first speak with the PE teacher to gather
day Monday information regarding this situation. After I
have gotten sufficient information and a clear
picture, I will call the parent to set up a
conference for all involved parties to participate
in.
In-Basket Item # 29 By the end of the I would ask my AP to contact Ms. Kim and
week acknowledge her request and share that our LT
will plan on adding this to our next agenda b
possibly sending out a survey to gather more
info on the overall interest level. After which
time, results would be shared with her and
follow up will occur depending on interest.
Also ask the parent to submit a plan of action
that could be presented to the LT.
In-Basket Item # 30 Act now by In the email, I would advise Ms. Smith that I am
sending an email willing to set up a time to meet with her but
would explain that the nature of the information
she may share may need to be handled through
the system’s HR dept. I would wait for her
response before moving forward with her.
In-Basket Item # 31 Talk to Al on I will consult with our system’s maintenance
Monday supervisor and look at the least restrictive times
that this could occur to coordinate this repair.
In-Basket Item # 32 Pass on the letter I would make a copy of the letter and attach a
before leaving note to it for our school counselor to follow up
the office today. on. I would ask that she simply contact Mr.
Allen and gather more information to present to
our Leadership team.
In-Basket Item # 33 By the end of the I would email Ms. Eager to let her know that her
week request is granted. I would ask that she send me
a copy of her spring schedule just for
documentation purposes and I would
acknowledge that she has been diligent about
being on time and working late but would
advice that she may want to leave out the part
about what other staff member do in any future
requests.
In-Basket Item # 34 Respond within Send the parent an initial letter acknowledging
30 days his request. In the letter I would state that I
would follow up by contacting Student Services
for the district for information regarding
enrollment and absences due to an extended
educational trip to find out what the options are
for the student's’ enrollment status so that we
are compliant with the attendance laws.
