Pre-service Music—Out for Joy (6:45-7:00)

Friday Night Closing Worship (7:00-8:30)

Theme: Imagine Flying

Welcome and Announcements: Wes

Greetings from Bishop Tonya Rawls
A Word of Thanks from the Worship Team: Rev. Wes Mullins
Jennifer and Carlos—Next Conference location
Invocation—Rev. Jeff Miner
Special Music—Children—I Believe I Can Fly
Reading—Isaiah 40:28-31—
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator
of the ends of the earth. God does not faint or grow weary; God’s understanding is
unsearchable. God gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even
youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for
the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall
run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

Hymn—I’ll Fly Away

Some glad morning when this life is o'er, I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away
Chorus: I'll fly away, Oh Glory, I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
When the shadows of this life have gone, I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown, I'll fly away (I'll fly away)
Just a few more weary days and then, I'll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end, I'll fly away (I'll fly away)

Reading—Mark 5:1-9—Rev. Terri Miller

They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. And when Jesus
had stepped out of the boat, immediately a man out of the tombs with an unclean spirit
met him. He lived among the tombs; and no one could restrain him any more, even with
a chain; for he had often been restrained with shackles and chains, but the chains he
wrenched apart, and the shackles he broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to
subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always
howling and bruising himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran
and bowed down before him; and he shouted at the top of his voice, “What have you to
do with me, Jesus, Child of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”
For he had said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” Then Jesus asked
him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”

Sermon—“The Demons Are Gone—Now What?” Rev. Elder Ken Martin

Sermon Response—Here I Am, Lord—Congregation

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night, I will make their night turn bright.
Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send?
Chorus: Here am I, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them, My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide, till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give My life to them, whom shall I send?

Blessing of the Moderator, Network Leaders, Governing Board, and Fellowship

Leadership—Rev. Troy Perry

Call for Offering—Rev. Stedney —For Leadership Development in Asia

Choir Offertory—“The Majesty and Glory of Your Name”

Ending Our Sand Ritual—Rev. Elder Darlene Garner and Rev. Elder Lillie Brock
Darlene: Five days ago the leaders of MCC and the Fellowship processed down this
center aisle as we began the worship in General Conference 24.
Lillie: Each leader carried a carafe of sand, and the six carafes filled with earth
were intended to represent the six liveable continents from which we all came
to this place for the purpose of worship and growth.
Darlene: Throughout the week, more sand has been poured in. Some of it in times of
joyous celebration. Some of it in moments when we considered our deepest pains and
our greatest fears.
Lillie: But tonight, we acknowledge and bless all those things. We bless every
moment, every grain of sand, that has formed the essence of MCC General
Conference 24.
Darlene: And so we now mix these sands together, weaving all these experiences
together, removing the layers of sand and allowing the layer of joy to touch the layer of
pain.
Lillie: Allowing the layer of love to touch the continents from all around the
world.
Darlene: Allowing the prayers and the worship that have washed over these sands for
five days to now wash over one another, as Monday touches Thursday.
Lillie: As the young adult service touches the contemplative service.
Darlene: As opening worship touches closing worship.
Lillie: Each of these grains of sand tells a story. The story of all that we have
seen and heard here.
Darlene: Of all that we have learned here.
Lillie: Of how we have been changed here.
Darlene: And so we now release this sand into this world.
Lillie: We release this conference into the world.
Darlene: God, we pray you release us back into the world.
Lillie: As you go from this place tonight, these sands have been taken and
placed into small vials, so that you can take a small part of this week with you.
Darlene: Take these sands and allow them to bring you back here. Each time you see
them, remember this place.
Lillie: Remember the story.
Darlene: Remember the singing.
Lillie: Remember the dancing.
Darlene: And may those memories fuel our work until we gather together once again.
Lillie and Darlene: May it be so, amen.

Communion—Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson – sung by Nancy (a cappella)

Communion Songs
On Eagles Wings
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord, who abide in God’s shadow for life
Say to the Lord, "My Refuge, My Rock in Whom I trust"
(Refrain) And I will raise you up on eagle's wings, bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of my hand
The snare of the fowler will never capture you, and famine will bring you no fear
Under my wings your refuge, my faithfulness your shield

You need not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
Though thousands fall about you, near you it shall not come.

We Are One in the Spirit

We are One in The Spirit, we are One in The Lord.
We are One in The Spirit, we are One in The Lord.
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored.
(Chorus) And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
Yes they'll know we are Christians by our love
We will work with each other, we will work side by side
We will work with each other, we will work side by side
And together we'll spread the news that God is in our land.
Somos uno en espiritu, somos uno con el señor
somos uno en espiritu y somos uno con el señor
y oramos que todo el mundo vive en paz
y que somos cristianos lo sabran
lo sabran y sabran que somos uno con amor.

Eagles Wings
Here I am waiting abide in me I pray. Here I am longing for You.
Hide me in Your love, bring me to my knees. May I know Jesus more and more.
Chorus: Come live in me all my life take over,
come breathe in me and I will rise on eagles’ wings. (repeat)

I Stand In Awe (This song should be last to get the congregation on their feet)
You are beautiful beyond description, too marvelous for words
Too wonderful for comprehension, like nothing ever seen or heard
Who can grasp your infinite wisdom, who can fathom the depth of your love
You are beautiful beyond description, majesty enthroned above
(Chorus) And I stand, I stand in awe of you; I stand, I stand in awe of you
Holy God to whom all praise is due, I stand in awe of you
Nancy: Closing Prayer: Oh God our help in ages past, guide us now as we
depart from this place and return to our homes, as we return to the places you
have called us to serve and minister. May the things we have experienced
together this week transform our home churches, our cities, our countries, and
our world. Through the name of the one who is, who was, and who is to come,
we pray, AMEN!
