Installing

System Requirements:
Minimum requirements:

● Dual core AMD or Intel CPU

● 2Gb of RAM; Andy uses less than 1Gb while running apps

● At least 10Gb of free disk space

● GPU with OpenGL 2.1 support

● Windows 7 SP1 / Windows 8.1 / Windows 10 / Ubuntu 14.04+ / OSX 10.8+

Recommended requirements:

● Quad core AMD or Intel CPU with AMDv/VT-x

● 4Gb of RAM

● 50Gb of free disk space

● GPU with OpenGL 4

● Windows 8.1+ 64-bit / Latest Ubuntu 64-bit / OSX 10.9+

Preparation:
In order for everything to go smoothly, there are a few steps you should take before
installing Andy;

1. In order to avoid issues and security flaws, you need to make sure Windows is up to
date. To do so, run Windows Update, Check for Updates, then check all available
updates. You may need to do this more than once after reboots. You could also install
Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top
all optional Windows updates.

2. To fully take advantage of Andy's gaming potential, we recommend you install the
latest updates for your graphics drivers. If you have dual graphics (Intel+Nvidia or
Intel+AMD) you will need to update both drivers since they work hand-in-hand. You will
need these links to update;

◦ Intel GPU: Intel Update Utility

◦ Nvidia GPU: GeForce Update

◦ AMD GPU: AMD Driver Downloader

3. To avoid issues with Virtualbox, you might consider updating your network drivers. All
NICs need to be up to date, check the NIC's manufacturer's website instead of the
OEM. In some cases updating audio drivers could be required, if they're too old.

The Installer:
Download Andy here then run and install, it's that simple!

Double-click the installer that you downloaded then press Install. Andy will install in the
background then start itself after it is done.

HandyAndy

Andy Support:
Opens a link to the Andy Support group page where you can ask questions and get
answers in real time by professionals or other Andy users.

Package Logs:
Packages all Andy's logs and some system information that could help Andy Support
admins or Andy's developers diagnose issues and fix bugs. This does not gather any personal
information, only specs and configuration. The .7z file will be placed on your desktop.

Start Andy:
Launches the default Andy machine with the specified parameters. It is recommended

Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top

that you always use this to start Andy or the shortcut created on your desktop.

Restart Andy:
Restarts the currently running Andy.

Quit Andy:
Safely closes Andy and shuts down the machine. This is the recommended way to shut
down your Andy to avoid data loss. Always shut down Andy BEFORE you turn off or reboot
your computer.

Exit HandyAndy:
Closes HandyAndy. Doing so will prevent you from using HandyAndy's features. You
can, however, open it back up by double-clicking the desktop shortcut, even if Andy is
running.

Backup/Restore:

Backup will save your data from the running Andy machine or the selected machine in
Andy VM Launcher. This will take a few minutes, depending on how much data you have, to
compress and create two disk files and one ID file.

You can use this ID file later to restore to the default Andy machine or a selected machine in

Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top

Andy VM Launcher. Make sure the disk files and ID file stay in the same directory. Restoring
to an Andy machine will delete all data on it and replace it by the restore data, so keep that in
mind.

Settings:
• Set Resolution@DPI:

Here you can choose a resolution and DPI for your Andy. In the first field enter a
resolution in the following format: HorizontalxVertical. If you are planning on using Andy in
Fullscreen, you should set this value to your screen's resolution.

Most computer screens have a DPI of 160. But feel free to play around with the DPI to find
the setting you are most comfortable with. You can increase the resolution if elements are
getting too big for the specified window size.

• Check for New Keymaps:

Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top

Manually checks for new keymapper configuration files on Andy's servers. If a new
package is available, it will be downloaded and updated.

This happens automatically once a day, so you usually do not have to check manually.

• Manage VM Libraries:

Andy can install machines to different folders, called libraries. You can add folders to

Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top

monitor or stop monitoring a certain library.

• Toggles:

◦ Toggle Launch Fullscreen: Toggles whether or not Andy launches in Fullscreen.

◦ Toggle Right-Click Back: Turn this on to make the mouse right-click send a
"back" signal to Android. This is very useful for mouse and touch-pad operation. For
touchscreens, however, a long press is considered a right-click which will lead to
going back every time you try to long-press anything inside Andy. This setting is
OFF by default.

◦ Toggle Desktop Shortcuts: When this setting is on, Shortcuts for applications
inside Andy will be created on the desktop.

◦ Toggle Log Auto-Purge: Turn this on and Andy will delete all logs with every Andy
start. Logs are placed in %userprofile %\AppData\Roaming\Andy\Logs and
%userpofile%\Andy\.

◦ Toggle Verbose Logging: This toggle makes Andy log more information, it is
useful for debugging.

• Advanced:

These options are ADVANCED and therefore dangerous to play around with if you do
not know what you're doing. These settings can break your current Andy machine or even the
functionality of Andy on your system alltogether. Tread carefully!

◦ Set Virtual WiFi MAC: Changes the Virtual WiFi MAC address for Andy. This can
disrupt many services inside Andy and Android, so do NOT change it if you are not
sure what you are doing or have been instructed by a support admin.

Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top

◦ Set Android UID: Changes the Android UID for Andy. This can disrupt many
services inside Andy and Android, so do NOT change it if you are not sure what you
are doing or have been instructed by a support admin.

◦ Set Android IMEI: Changes the Android IMEI for Andy. This can disrupt many
services inside Andy and Android, so do NOT change it if you are not sure what you
are doing or have been instructed by a support admin.

◦ Set Andy Protocol: Changes Andy's streaming protocol. Using TCP could offer
better compatibility (if your Windows isn't up to date for example). andy, however, is
10x faster and will offer much better performance in games.

Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top

◦ Set GPU Type: Use this to change the emulated GPU in Andy. This should not
matter most of the time, however some games have different defaults for different
GPUs. Play around with this to your heart's content, it will not break anything—
aside from games that require certain GPUs of course.

• VM Import Tool (Factory Reset):

Resets the default machine to factory default. Use this to get a new machine if the
current one is broken for example. It will delete all the data and settings inside your Andy. It
will be as if you bought a new tablet.

Andy VM Launcher:
Andy Launcher allows you to create and manage multiple Andy machines. Think of it
as having multiple tablets for different uses/users. There is no limit to how many machines
you can create except the limit of space on your hard drive, of course. More information in the
Andy VM Launcher section of this FAQ.

Term Shell:
Gives shell access to the Android machine. If you do not know what shell is, you do not
need this.

Toggle On-Screen Keyboard:

Opens the Windows On-Screen Keyboard for Windows 7/8/8.1. For Windows 10, use
the icon near the date.

Andy IP Information:
Returns your computer's local IP address, your computer's public IP address, Andy's
host-only address and Andy's internal address. For Andy Remote Control you will need the
address in “PC IP Address”.

Backup/Restore:
This has the same functionality as Backup/Restore in HandyAndy.

Options:

Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top

These options can affect Andy's performance positively and negatively as well. Be sure
to only change these settings if you know what you're doing.

• Memory: The amount of system memory allocated for Andy. It should not be over
3072 MB, and it shouldn't exceed half of your total system RAM.

• CPU Cores: Should always be half the number of Total vCPU.

• Total vCPU: Should always be double the number of CPU Cores.

• Network Mode: Use bridged mode if you need Andy to access something on your
local network or vice-versa.

• Virtualization Modes: Sometimes, turning both options on improves performance.

Some systems, however, do not support VPMC. Play around with these settings, and
figure out what works best for your system. Default is both OFF.

Info:
Offers information on the selected machine along with some host system information.
This can be required for support requests.

application from the designated folders. You can, however, manually choose a different
configuration file at any time.

Gamepads:

automatically, so you can pick a gamepad you just connected, no restart required.

Menu:
Not many applications use the menu button any more. But for those old-school
applications that do, you will be prepared.

Orientation:
Andy switches its orientation intelligently based on the running application. If, however,
you feel like changing the orientation manually, use this button.

Fullscreen:

Like:
You can share your experience with Andy on Facebook or Twitter!

Multitasking:
To multitask in Andy and switch between running application, simply press the square
icon next to the home button (circle). This will open a window with all running applications
which you can choose between.

Pressing the home button while inside an application will not close it, but rather minimize it. To
quit an application you will need to access the multitasking menu then flick it off the screen.

Andy OS, Inc. Back to the top

This will close the application completely and free up RAM and resources it was using.

Andy Keymapper

Keymapper Support:
To use the keymapper functionality in Andy all you need to do is download your game
and run it. Andy will show you the specific set of keys you can use for the running app and
what they all do. This works the same way for both keyboard and Gamepads.

This will only work with games that have a map ready in %Andyfolder
%\resources\keymapper\
For the games that aren't already mapped, you will need to create your own using Aurora and
place them in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Andy\Keymapper\
Download Aurora 2.5 Beta here

Gamepads:

Andy's keymapper automatically recognizes all kinds of gamepads. No matter how you
connect them, as long as Windows sees it, Andy will let you use it.
