Hi Natalie! First of all, I truly enjoyed reading your thoughts and opinions on this

reading. I believe it is really helpful as we go through this course and this research project

to be open to our classmates’ thoughts on this process; not only can we share similar

ideas, but also learn from each other in ways that are unique! I love within your first

paragraph how you discussed how everything can be divided into steps. It is so easy to

look at this project as this one big thing, but I had never really thought of dividing the

research timeline in an easy and convenient way. Instead of just cramming all of your

research and note taking into one session; truly having a timeline of each specific portion

is really helpful. It also relieves you from the pressure of accomplishing all of this work

in a short amount of time.

One aspect of the reading that I did not really consider but you brought up is how

exactly to read. We so often hear the phrase “work smarter, not harder,” yet often we do

not apply them to projects such as these. So taking into consideration all of the

information given within a source including tables, graphs, and illustrations is a valuable

resource. Also considering the author’s role within his writing, and how if he has a bias –

how do you navigate through the material? All of this illustrates the importance of being

able to pull valuable information from these sources in a way that is useful to your paper.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed your response, and I encourage you to actually

write out a calendar that has the details of your research project’s timeline!
