Background : The unwise antibiotic usage can lead the level of resistance of
bacteria will rising. The type of antibiotics that often prescribed to odontogenic
infection patients in RSGM IIK-BW Kediri is an antibiotics with broad-spectrum, it is
amoxicillin. Purpose : This research has a purpose to describe the antibiotic usage
for odontogenic infection against the appearance of possibility resistant bacteria in
Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut Kediri period 2015 – 2017. Method : This research a is
a survey study through the secondary data from medical records period 2015 – 2017
by retrospectif and sampling with total sampling techniques. Result : The population
of this research are 74 patients as a sample. The result of this sample show that
odontogenic infection diseases with an antibiotic usage were (1) chronic periodontitis
35,1% with 10 tablet antibiotic prescription in 14 patients, 12 tablet antibiotic
prescription in 1 patient, and 15 tablet antibiotic prescription in 11 patients, (2)
acute apical periodontitis 31,1% with 10 tablet antibiotic prescription in 14 patients,
12 tablet antibiotic prescription in 2 patients, and 15 tablet antibiotic prescription in
7 patients, (3) periapical abscess 16,2% with 9 tablet antibiotic prescription in 1
patients, 10 tablet antibiotic prescription in 6 patients, and 15 tablet antibiotic
prescription in 5 patients, (4) gingival abscess 9,5% with 10 tablet antibiotic
prescription in 14 patients, 12 tablet antibiotic prescription in 1 patient, and 15 tablet
antibiotic prescription in 2 patients. Antibiotic prescription under 15 tablets can
triggers the bacteria resistant against antibiotic.
