Start-up

The Start up Sequence is available at the Start up STG windows for each unit. If
the term required on the sequence has been full filled, the status will be declare as
‘DONE’ and the sequence will go to the next step automatically. When a Function
Group (FG) is still OFF, the sequence will automatically make it ON.
Below are the Start-up mode based on Metal Temperature of Turbine casing:
- Cold Start Condition : Tm < 220 degC
- Warm Start Condition : Tm < 420 degC
- Hot Start Condition : Tm > 420 degC

Check for instrument air and service air are available.

Check the availability of cooling water.


Open the cooling water valves before and after the lube oil cooler and venting
valves are open. Open the cooling water valves before and after the control oil
cooler and venting valves are open. Open the cooling water valves before and
after the generator cooler and venting valves are open. Make sure that there is
water flow in the cooler.

Warming-up pipe

Start Up Sequence :
1. Start FG Enclosure Ventilation.
- FG Ventilation Feedback ON.
2. Start FG Drain.
- FG Drain Feedback ON.
3. Start FG Lube Oil.
- FG Lube Oil feedback ON.
4. Start FG Turning.
- FG Turning Gear Feedback ON.
- Turning Gear Time > 2 Hours.
5. Start FG Condensate.
- FG Condensate Feedback ON.
6. Start FG Leak – Off Steam.
- FG Leak – Off Steam Feedback ON.
7. Condenser Cooling in Operation.
8. Start FG Sealing Steam.
- FG Sealing Steam Feedback ON.
9. Close Vacuum Breaker.
- Vacuum Breaking Valve in Close Position.
10. Start FG Evacuation.
- FG Evacuation Feedback ON.
11. Start FG Hydraulic.
- FG Hydraulic Oil Feedback ON.
12. Turbine Auxiliaries in Service.
13. Open ESV.
14. Turbine Run – Up & Excitation.
- Field Breaker Close.
- Not Excitation Trip.
- F/O Controller Active.
15. Synchronization.
- If Manual Synchronization selected :
 Sequence is HOLD, until manual Synch. Reset or GCB close.
- If Auto Synchronization selected :
 Select “Auto Synch”.
 Select “Synch ON”.
- Generator Breaker closed Position.
16. Loading.
17. Load above minimum load (>14 MW).
18. Steam Turbine in Service.

7.0.1 Normal operation


During normal operation the operator must monitor:
 Lube oil parameters:
- Control oil tank level level (0.4 m3).
- Control oil pressure after filter + 135 bar (g) monitor from DCS.
- Control oil pressure to consumer (+ 135 bar.g).
- Control oil tank temperature (45-55° C).
- Differential pressure of strainer (<5 bar.g) monitor from DCS.
- FP discharge pressure (1.5 – 3 bar.g).
- Ensure no leakage in the system.
 Condensate system parameters:
- Ensure no abnormality (leakage, noise, etc.) at condensate system.
- Ensure normal operation condensate tank level in NWL (+ 1500 mm).
- Ensure Suction Pressure CEP + 0.6 bar (g) in local PI (1/2LCB11CP501,
1/2LCB12CP501 & 1/2LCB13CP501).
- Ensure discharge pressure CEP 16 - 24 bar (g) at local PI (1/2LCB11CP502,
1/2LCB12CP502 & 1/2LCB13CP502).
- Differential pressure gland steam condenser < 1 bar.
- Normal operation motor CEP as below:
1. Winding temperature > 110 oC.
2. DE, NDE pump bearing Temperature < 110o C.
3. Pump bearing Temperature < 90o C.
4. Vibration DE, NDE pump bearing 2.8-4.5 mm/s.
5. Vibration Pump bearing 6.1 – 7.6 mm/s.
6. DP of Cartridge filter 1.5 barg.
 Control oil parameters:
- Control oil tank level level (0.4 m3).
- Control oil pressure after filter (+ 135 bar.g) monitor from DCS.
- Control oil pressure to consumer (+ 135 bar.g).
- Control oil tank temperature (45-55° C).
- Differential pressure of strainer (<5 bar.g) monitor from DCS.
- FP discharge pressure (1.5 – 3 bar.g).
- Ensure no leakage in the system.
 Gland Steam parameters :
- Ensure selected gland steam vent fan is running normal without any abnormal
noise and vibration less than 1.12 mm/s.
- Ensure no leakage steam at gland steam system.
- Ensure there is no water leakage at manual drain valve of loop seal.
- Ensure pressure of leak-off system is within high and low limit (-0.065 up to -
0.015 bar g).
- Ensure pressure of gland steam sealing is within high and low limit (1.05 - 1.5
bar a).
- Ensure temperature of sealing steam to low pressure side is within high and
low limit (130°C - 170°C).
 Exhaut Steam parameters :
- Ensure condenser presure (0.15bara – 0.25 bara)
- Ensure exhaust temperatur less than 90°C
 Main Steam parameters :
- Presure Inlet Steam 125 bara
- Temperature Inlet Steam 540°C
 Generator parameters :
- Inlet air temperature generator < 50°C
- Outlet air temperature generator
- Generator winding temperature < 127°C
