Good news! Rep Dillon Announces Grants for


New Haven Arts and Youth Programs

Youth Programs
As a member of the Appropriations Committee, youth programs have been a priority.
All programs have merit, but during budget deliberations I requested support for R
Kids, Solar Youth, and the continuing of family concerts at Davis School by New
Haven Symphony. More than $339,000 in state Youth Services grants was recently
announced for New Haven area programs.

Arts Funding
The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded $245,000 to Connecticut non-
profits.

Artspace, Inc., New Haven


$20,000
To support City-Wide Open Studios, a public art commissioning project
and professional development program.

New Haven International Festival of Arts & Ideas, Inc., New Haven
$45,000
To support the presentation of "The Merchant of Venice" at the
International Festival of Arts & Ideas.

Yale Repertory Theatre), New Haven


To support a production of "Father Comes Home from the Wars, Part 1, 2
& 3" by Suzan-Lori Parks at Yale Repertory Theatre.

NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, "It is energizing to see the impact that the arts are
making throughout the United States. These NEA-supported projects are good
examples of how the arts build stronger and more vibrant communities, improve well-
being, prepare our children to succeed, and increase the quality of our lives. At the
National Endowment for the Arts, we believe that all people should have access to
