Duties of Environmental Engineers

 Prepare, review, and update environmental
investigation reports
 Design projects that lead to environmental
impacts of deforestration:
protection, such as water reclamation
facilities, air pollution control systems, and
operations that convert waste to energy
 Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits,
and standard operating procedures
 Provide technical support for environmental
remediation projects and for legal actions
 Analyze scientific data and do quality-
control checks
 Monitor the progress of environmental
improvement programs
causes effects and solutions of overpopulation:  Inspect industrial and municipal facilities
and programs in order to ensure compliance
with environmental regulations
 Advise corporations and government
agencies about procedures for cleaning up
contaminated sites

Components of Ecosystems EFFECTS OF LAND POLLUTION?

 Abiotic chemicals 1.Earthquakes
 Photosysthesis 2.Soil erosion

 Consumers (heterotrophs) 4.Floods
 Aerobic Respiration 5.Volcanic activity
 Decomposers 6.Land slide

Limiting factors
1. freshwater ecosystem solution to land pollution
2. field ecosystem 1. Only using hazardous substance when absolutely
3. marine ecosystem necessarily.
2. Applying safe practice when using and storing
types of ecosystems: hazardous substances.
1. forest ecosystems 3. Transporting hazardous substances safely like it
2. Grassland Ecosystems is being properly sealed.
3. Tundra Ecosystems 4. Disposing of hazardous substances correctly.
5. Regulate the use of pesticides and fertilizers in
agricultural activities.
6. Create dumping ground away from residential
areas.

CAUSES OF WATER POLLUTION

1.Industrial waste
2.Sewage and waste water
3. Marine dumping

EFFECTS OF WATER POLLUTION

1. Death of aquatic (water) animals
2. Disruption of food-chains
3. Diseases
4. Destruction of ecosystems

solution to water pollution

1.Avoid using the toilet as a wastebasket. Most
tissues, wrappers, dust cloths, and other paper
goods should be properly discarded in a
wastebasket. The fiber reinforced cleaning products
that have become popular should never be
discarded in the toilet.
2.Avoid using a garbage disposal. Keep solid wastes
solid. Make a compost pile from vegetable scraps.
3.Run the dishwasher or clothes washer only when
you have a full load. This conserves electricity and
water.
4.Use the minimum amount of detergent and/or
bleach when you are washing clothes or dishes. Use
only phosphate free soaps and detergents.
5.Minimize the use of pesticides, herbicides,
fertilizers. Do not dispose of these chemicals, motor
oil, or other automotive fluids into the sanitary
sewer or storm sewer systems. Both of them end at
the river.
