Nick Olkovich attained an MDiv in 2009 from the

Sacramental Preparation:
Confirmation,
First Communion & Reconciliation
At Our Lady of Sorrows Parish all parents / guardians
wishing to prepare their child to celebrate Confirmation or
First Communion and Reconciliation are invited to attend
an important information meeting. Please note if you have
a child preparing for Confirmation and another child
preparing for First Communion you must attend two
different meetings because the preparation is different.
It is essential that you attend the information meeting
because details will be provided regarding registration and
future gatherings. All meetings will be held in the church.
First Communion & Reconciliation Information
Meeting: If your child was baptized in the Roman
Catholic Church and born in 2003 or earlier and you wish
to prepare your child to celebrate First Communion
(including the Sacrament of Reconciliation / Confession)
you must attend a meeting either:
Sunday, September 19th from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
OR Thursday, September 23rd from 7:30–9:00 pm
Confirmation Information Meeting: If your child was
baptized in the Roman Catholic Church and born in 1997
or earlier and you wish to prepare your child to celebrate
Confirmation please attend one of the Parent Information
Meetings on either:
Sunday, October 3rd from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
OR Thursday, October 7th from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Note: Proof of Baptism will be required in order to
complete the registration for sacraments. Please be sure to
bring a copy of your child's Baptism Certificate for these
meetings.
Baptism for Children in School: Baptism is the first
Sacrament of Initiation and it is the sacrament that prepares
us to celebrate Confirmation and First Eucharist. If your
child is not baptized or if your child was baptized in
another Christian Church (Anglican, Lutheran, etc.) and
you would like your child to be a member of the Catholic
Church please call the parish at: 416-231-6016 and leave a
message for Patrick Sibley.
Challenge Girls Club
Moms! Do you want your daughter to
grow in virtue and have a friendship
with Christ? If so, you and your daughter are invited to
come to visit our club from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
every Saturday at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Hall.
Challenge is a club for girls ages 10 to 15. Through
weekly meetings, semi-annual retreats and a week-long
summer camp, the girls learn about their faith and develop
positive leadership skills in a fun and dynamic
environment. Some past events and outreach projects have
included a mother/daughter afternoon tea, a
father/daughter dance, a “Princess Tea Party” for
underprivileged girls, and a seminar on fashion, etiquette,
nutrition and values. For more information, please contact

Refugee Sponsorship
Iraqui Chaldeans, Assyrians and others face systematic
elimination similar to genocide. The Archdiocese of
Toronto has spearheaded a National Initiative: ‘One Parish
- One Family’, to assist Iraqui refugees, in much the same
way as Vietnamese Refugees were assisted 30 years ago.
The Canadian government has responded by making 2,500
additional spaces available through private sponsorship;
spaces that must be filled by Dec. 31 st or they will be lost.
There are several different levels of participation available.
Any parishioners who wish to learn more about how they
can be involved in this initiative are asked to contact the
parish office for more information.

victims of the recent floods in Pakistan, may do so by
