The capacity of a person, team or organization to influence others is called power. To

control, to influence, being able to get things done is power. When person A take person B to
do something for person A even person B resists, is called power according to Max Waiver.
Power is a five-letter word that connotes a very heavy and impressive meaning. Different things
were coming into our mind whenever we hear this word. We may apply this to different
aspects of our lives and with that, I would like to reflect with the word power in a certain
manner that was discussed in our class.
"With power comes great responsibility," those were the words stated by Benjamin
Parker from the movie, Spiderman. I strongly agree that it is really a responsibility to be aware
of the effects and results whenever someone exercise his power. Just like what's happening to
the Philippine government, wherein the people therein, exercising power shall be responsible
when they make necessary decisions. Because the decisions they made for the country and its
people will be definitely a big issue. People will make some comments that they are satisfied
with such decision, that they benefited with it. But as I observe our country, most of the opinions
made by its people were the opposite. Some will bash, some will taunt not just the decision but
sometimes as well as the person who made it. Because the result of their decision negatively
impacts the society. For example, is the implementation of the Tax Reform Acceleration and
Inclusion law. A lot of people reacted with this newly passed law, positively and negatively. Some
says that this new law will definitely make their lives easier and happier for they will bring home
the money they earned with small deductions. But most of them believe that those who are
below or minimum wage earners, who occupy our country greatly, will not be benefited and also
it will give more burden to their lives. And as I look into it, I'm kind of convinced that they are
true. It will not help those below our society, maybe in small little way but not that much that
will make their lives comfortable because the new exemption shall not be a help for them as the
prices of their needs increased in such a manner.
With the events happening into our country, I realized some things. People in the
government shall exercise its powers in making decisions by considering different factors but
most especially its people because their people is the one who will be greatly affected. Their
decision sometimes is not really for the common good of all and we should accept that. And to
conclude, power of those in the government will really affect the people and its society,
positively and negatively. They just need to be responsible enough to cope up with the lapses
from their past judgements.

Explains the political ideas and beliefs of a group of people refers to a Political
Theory or Philosophy. A lot of people became famous because of their different
philosophies such as Aristotle, John Locke, Baron de Montesquieu, Francois Marie-
Arouet, Jean Jacques Rosseau and there are also Filipinos like Jose P. Laurel, Manuel
Quezon, Andres Bonifacio and Jose Rizal. Our national hero is known not just in our
country but as well as all over the world because it brings a big impact not just for an
individual but as well as for the nation. His theories and ideologies spread throughout
the world that were still alive up to this day. That’s why I would like to reflect about his
works that made me realize and aware with some things.
His poem A La Juventud Filipinas became known for it describes the Philippine
youth as the fair hope of our motherland. With my age right now, I am so humbly
honoured to be part of the so called youth. Because I am one of those people that Rizal
is pertaining to be a hope of our country. It means that I have the obligation and
responsibility to do things that should bring light to our country whenever it faces
struggles and problems that would hinder the growth and development of the
Philippines. That’s why it became our basis especially for the teenagers that should be
satisfied and followed. It is also used in the Philippine Constitution, Article 2 Section 13.
But as for myself, I would like to admit that sometimes I forget my responsibility for our
country. Sometimes I do things that for sure Dr. Rizal would be disappointed. And I know
I’m not the only one who forgets about it because a lot of issues involving the youth were
arising nowadays such as their involvement in the usage and selling of drugs, rape
suspects and other violations in the Philippine laws. It’s so saddening and frustrating that
the hope Rizal pertains to are the ones who actually bring burden in not bringing light to
the country. But I know it’s not yet late to make it fresh again in our minds what Rizal has
said. He may be disappointed with what’s happening but for sure he still believes in us.
We only need someone who believes and trust us in order to get things done. We should
start with ourselves, do things that make ourself proud. Then the next thing is to make a
change outside our box, things that the society would be proud of. I believe that time will
come, the hope Rizal pertains to would bring the much needed light for our country and
no problems would be impossible to solve because there’s the youth who will make
solutions to such problem.
