REDUCTION IN TRANSFUSION OF HOMOLOGOUS BLOOD PRODUCTS
Advanced ATS training and technology can reduce homologous blood transfusion. Acting on
retransfusion of washed red blood cells minimizes the impact of hemodilution by improving
HCT while implementing Goal-Directed Perfusion. Using phosphorylcholine coating with
concurrent shed blood separation further reduces alteration of red blood cells and coagulation
disturbances in routine CPB procedures. This reduces the need for homologous transfusions
which decreases the incidence of associated complications that results in improved outcomes.

Jessa hospital in Hasselt is a modern clinic where Dr. Alaaddin
Yilmaz, MD and Pascal Starinieri, MSc, built their unique 360
experience in mini-invasive cardiac surgery.
Dr. Yilmaz holds a medical degree from the University of Ghent

(1996), where he also accomplished his fellowship. He has worked
in Nieuwegein until March 2013 and then joined Hasselt cardiac
center. Pascal Starinieri is a EU certified perfusionist, holding a
Master of Science in Perfusion (Leuven Medical School 2015) and is currently pursuing a PhD. Pascal has a
wide experience in Perfusion practice and together with Dr. Yilmaz developed a fully mini-invasive approach

a) Registered perfusionist(s) must always be accompanied by a Sorin representative of their country.

**Please do not confirm participation to customers before receiving our written confirmation.
In the event of cancellation, the Sorin Representative must inform us as soon as possible and no later
than a week before the workshop date. In the event of last minute cancellation or if it is too late to
cancel the workshop, the cost of the workshop will be charged to the local Sorin branch.

Hotel accommodation will be booked by Global Marketing and details communicated to the
accompanying LivaNova representative. Room charges to be paid directly at check out.
