A CONQUEROR

Who Is A Conqueror?
A conqueror, in context of the message, is one who conquers1 – one who defeats or
subdues by force of arms, the enemy and gains and secures control of his kingdom,
realm, empire, dominion or territory.

Objective
The objective of the conqueror is not just to win a battle, but is to win the war. His
objective is to attack the enemy and to constantly pursue in attacking, until he has
defeated the enemy and completely taken over his kingdom. Victory for the conqueror is
not just a defeat of the enemy’s army, but a complete take over of the enemy’s kingdom.

Amour And Weapons Of War – Eph. 6:10 - 17

In context of the message, the conqueror has six pieces of personal armour (combat gear);
two are considered offensive weapons: shoes and sword; three are considered defensive
weapons: breastplate, shield, and helmet; and one is considered neutral: loin belt (girdle).

Illustration – The Warfare

The objective of the battle is to defeat the enemy but the objective of the war is to
completely take over his kingdom. When the Romans went to war, on entering the battle
field, the first attack is from a distance, usually by arrows, spears, catapult etc. Each army
would take turn in launching an attack; when one army launches an attack the other
would put up a defence, and vice versa. After each army had exhausted their long
distance weaponry, they would now charge vehemently at each other, for hand to hand
combat, which was usually aided by swords, axes, and knives etc, for the final attack on
the enemy.

1
To defeat or subdue by force, especially by force of arms.

To gain or secure control of by or as if by force of arms.

2
What Enables A Conqueror To Conquer
In this type of battle and warfare, what enables the conqueror to conquer, is the strength
of his armoury, both offensive and defensive. When A Conqueror launches an attack, the
enemy’s defence mechanism is powerless against such attack. But when the enemy of a
conqueror launches an attack, his defence mechanism is able to withstand such attack.
What enables the conqueror to conquer is his ability to remain standing after the battle is
over. When the conqueror defeats his enemy, then the battle is over, but then he proceeds
to take over completely the kingdom of the defeated and when this has been
accomplished, the war has been won, the conqueror has conquered.

THE CHRISTIAN’S ENEMY

We are fighting against the devil and his angels (Mat. 5:41, Rev. 12:9). (Gen. 3) In the
Old Testament, he was the old serpent that deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden. (Rev.
12:7 – 12) In the New Testament, he was the great dragon, who fought with Michael and
his angels, in heaven. (Mat. 4:1 – 11) He was the Devil, who tempted Jesus in the
wilderness after he fasted for 4o days. (Luke. 22:3) He was Satan who entered into Judas
surnamed Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus Christ. (Mat. 12:24) He is called Beelzebub – the
prince of the devils; (John 12:31) he is referred to as “the prince of this world”; (John
8:44) he is a liar and the father of lies, he is a murderer (manslayer) 2 from the beginning;
(Rev. 12:10) he is a deceiver, he is a tempter, he is the accuser of the brethren; (John
10:10) he is a thief and his objective is to steal, kill and destroy man; (1 st Pet. 5:8) he is
the adversary and he is walking about seeking whom he may devour.

Its Structure and Operation

Beelzebub/Satan/The Devil/The Dragon/The Old Serpent is the prince of the.
Principalities are chief devils in his army; Powers are the other devils that are under their
authority of principalities. Satan carries out his objectives thru principalities; and
principalities carries out their objectives thru powers. Principalities and powers are falling

angels, who were cast out of heaven with Satan by Michael and his angels. The devil and
his angels are the principalities and powers who we, as Christians, are wrestling against.
The devil and his angels are the spiritual wickedness in high places – meaning that they
are in the realm of the spirit – we are not fighting against flesh and blood - this is a
spiritual warfare. The devil and his angels are the rulers of the darkness of this world
(Eph. 6:12) – every evil act or act of sin that has been committed in this world were
committed under the influence of the devil or his angels; every rape, every murder
committed, every lie told, every act of fornication, every deception, every act of larceny,
every accusation, every opposition to the laws and principles of God, was and is and will
be done under the influence of the devil or his angels, Because that is his objective, to
influence man to sin against God and for man to ultimately die as a result of that sin.

Spiritual Warfare
We have entered into a Spiritual Warfare. From the very moment you believe in your
heart and confess with your mouth and are baptized, you have been entered into hand to
hand combat with the devil and his angels. The objectives of the war are to
garner/acquire/gather the souls of men for your kingdom and to keep them in your
kingdom until they have passed from mortality to immortality. The objectives of the devil
and his angels are to prevent sinners from accepting the truth of the gospel; and to cause
Christians to renounce/reject/abandon or to forsake their salvation. The objective of the
Christian’s army is to evangelize the world and to help Christians to maintain and keep
their salvation.

4
THE CHRISTIAN CONQUEROR
Every Christian has what it takes to conquer the devil. What enables us as a Christian to
conquer the devil and his angels, are the weapons of our warfare, which are not carnal,
but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds (2nd Cor. 10:4). The devil
and his angels are spirits; how they attack man, is thru the mind. They attack us through
our imaginations and cause us to accept a reasoning that is against the knowledge of God
influencing us to have a mindset that would cause us to disobey God. The devil knows
that every human, acts base on his will, and wills base on his emotion/feelings, and feels
base on how he thinks; therefore the devil’s objective is to be that spirit that controls our
mind (Eph. 4:23), that is why we are exhorted to be renewed in the spirit of our minds.
We are also exhorted to, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine
own understanding” (Prov. 3:5). The Apostles Paul tell us to, “be strong in the Lord, and
in the power of his might,” and to, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able
to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Eph. 6:10 – 11). Through the whole armour of
God we are able to, “Cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself
against the knowledge of God (meaning the devil and his angels), and bring into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2Co 10:5). When the devil attacks us by
telling us lies, we are able to counter such attack because our loins are gird about with
truth. When he says we shall die, we reply by saying, “I shall not die, but live, and
declare the works of the LORD” (Psa 118:17). When he attacks us with the guilt of our
past – we are able to withstand because of the breastplate of righteousness – and sends
back an attack by saying, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in
Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Rom 8:1). As a conqueror
we not only defend, but we also attack. Our feet are shod with the preparation of the
gospel of peace - this enables us to infiltrate the enemy’s camp to redeem the souls of
men for the kingdom of God. When we get up close and personal with the devil and his
angels, we have an impenetrable shield of faith that enables to quench all the fiery darts
of the devil; darts of fear, darts of doubt, darts of hopelessness, darts of defeat, darts of
failure. We also have the helmet of salvation which guards our minds from repossession
of the devil and his angels. When he tries to penetrate our minds, he is met with salvation
– deliverance from the power and penalty of sin, the devil and his angels. Finally we are

5
equipped with the Sword of the Spirit – “the word of God which is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and
spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are
naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do” (Heb 4:12 – 13).

In order for a Christian to be a conqueror, they must fight. David was able to use a sling
shot and a stone to conquered goliath because he fought in the name of the Lord (1 st Sam.
17:39 – 51); Samson was able to push down the two columns of the building where the
philistine’s were having their feast because he fought in the name of the Lord (judges
16:23-30); Abraham was able to overtake and defeat Chedorlaomer, and the kings that
were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale and brought back his
family lot because he fought in the name of the Lord (Gen.14:17).

WE ARE NOT JUST CONQUERORS, WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS

As a Christian we are not just conquerors, but we are more than conquerors. A conquer
has to fight to be a conqueror, a conqueror has to fight to gain the victory, a conqueror
has to fight to prevail in battle, a conqueror has to fight to win the war. But when you are
more than conquerors, the battle is not yours it belongs to God (2nd Ch 20:15). When you
are more than conquerors, you don’t have to fight to gain the victory, from the very
moment you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour, you’ve got the victory.
What makes you more than conquerors, is the fact that you were chosen in him from
before the foundation of the world, what makes you more than conquerors is that after he
predestine you to be conformed to the image of His son; in the fullness of time, at the
time appointed, you were called, and justified and then finally he is going to glorify you
(Rom 8:30). What makes you more than conquerors is because God loved you, and has
demonstrated that love for you, through sending His son Jesus Christ, to die for you in
order to redeem you from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of heaven; That
which makes you more than conquerors, the Love of God for you, is irreplaceable and
irreversible, nothing shall be able to separate you from what God has already done for

6
you; no tribulation, no distress, no persecution, no famine, no nakedness, no peril, no
sword (Rom 8:35) the Apostle Paul went further and said, “ For I am persuaded, that
neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor
things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 8:38 – 39). God is saying
to us as Christians, that in all these things we are not just conquerors, but we are more
than conquerors. You have got something on the inside that makes you more than
conquerors, the Apostle Paul calls it “this great treasure in earthen vessels” (2nd Co 4:7).
We have got Jesus on the inside working on the outside. And greater is he that is within
us than he that is in the world (1Jn 4:4). As a Christian according to (2nd Co 4:8 - 10) We
are going to be troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are going to be perplexed,
but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; but in all
these things, because we are more than conquerors, we will faint not; though our outward
man perishes, because we are more than conquerors, in all these things our inward man is
renewed day by day; because we are more than conquerors, we count all these sufferings
as light affliction, which is but for a moment, which is going to produce for us a far more
exceeding and eternal weight of glory (2nd Co 4:16 – 17); because we are more than
conquerors, we shall not go under, we shall not be defeated, we shall not be burned, but
we shall and will always be victorious over the devil and his angels, because we are not
just conquerors, but because we are more than conquerors.
