when group according to:

- Experience in conducting research in high school

- Experience in conducting research in college

2. 4th year nursing students who have experienced conducting

research in high school would have better research skills than

those who are experiencing conduction of research in high school

assessed by Research Skill Assessment Tool.

3. 4th year nursing students who are experiencing conduction of

Significance of the study

This study aims to find out the research capabilities of the Level

IV nursing students of San Juan de Dios Educational Foundation

Inc., College base on their experience in conducting research

during their high school and college years.

The study would be beneficial to the following:

Level 4 Nursing Students

They would be the focus and basis of the study. Findings of

the study will help the Level IV Nursing students of SJDEFI to know

their research skill in conducting their thesis based on experience

during high school and college years. Level 4 nursing students

would be aware of their limitations involved in conducting a

research.

Faculty

the students in conducting a research. Results of the study would

be a baseline data for future assessment of the faculty members.

This will also help them recognize particular weakness of the

students in research performance.

Future researchers

This study will serve their guide regarding their performance

and knowledge about their research activities. It will help the

future researchers to improve the potential capabilities in

constructing their study.

College of Nursing

The college of nursing would recognize the importance of

imparting research in the nursing practice in relation with the

students’ capabilities in providing quality care to the patient. This

would serve as basis in inculcating research in the curriculum in

an earlier year level rather than in the first semester of the 4th

year level.
Scope and Delimitations

nursing students who were currently enrolled at San Juan de Dios

Educational Foundation Incorporated (College), during the first

semester of 2010 – 2011. The 4th year nursing students were the

respondents of the study.

The 4th year nursing students will be given research skill

assessment test prepared for this study. The research skills of the
students included concepts pertaining to research paper,
identification of a research, statement of the problem, writing a
research paper, usage of library and electronic resources,
documentation and advanced skills in research process.
