History
Founded in 1976, Raffles Hospital is a 380bed tertiary care hospital with a
comprehensive range of specialist surgical, medical and diagnostic services
covering 35 subspecialities. Located in the heart of Singapore, Raffles Hospital
offers a full complement of specialist services combined with advanced medical
technology. Its 20 specialist centres meet a wide variety of medical needs. Raffles
Hospital is part of a fully integrated healthcare organisation, which includes a
network of family medicine clinics, multidisciplinary clinics and dental clinics.
Patients enjoy a continuum of care, from having their most basic healthcare needs
met through an islandwide network of Raffles Medical clinics, to specialist and

cancer patients in Singapore and South East Asia. The range of services provided
includes cancer screening, diagnosis, oncologic treatment encompassing inpatient
and outpatient chemotherapy, targeted therapies, chemoradiation and radiotherapy,
as well as palliative and supportive care.
The service offers palliative care outpatient clinics, consultative and home care
services. An inpatient service offering specialist interventional services and
facilities, specialist nursing support, respite care and terminal care is available in
Raffles Hospital. Oncologic care and evaluation for palliative care patients are
available 7 days a week. Outpatient clinics and home care services are provided 6
days a week while oncall services are available 24 hours a day. A 24hour
emergency centre located in Raffles Hospital is also available for emergency
management of severe, unrelieved symptoms.
In addition to inpatient wards, inpatient facilities in Raffles Hospital include an
Intensive Care Unit, an angiography suite, a day surgery ward, operating theatres
and a 24hour emergency centre. Rooms for the 380bed hospital range from a 6
bed room to a Presidential Suite with adjoining rooms for family members.
Support services are provided by onsite dieticians and nutritionists,
physiotherapists, occupational therapists, traditional medicine practitioners, clinical
psychologists and psychiatrists.
The Centre also participates actively in translational research and clinical trials.
