CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL

KNOWLEDGE
VERSE 9.1:-

 There is a rule that bhakti should only be

taught to one who is not selfish or
inimical.
CCP:-

 This is the heart of the BG.

 1st six chapter progression from karma to
bhakti and last six chapters are progression
from jnana to bhakti.
 Krishna here is speaking out of ecstasy of
his heart.
 1-3- developing kevalä bhakti by knowledge
about Krishna
 4-10- Krishna’s inconceivable relationship
with the material world.
 11-19 those who understand Krishna in
various ways among them devotees are
best.(impersonalists, devotees,
 20-28 how kevalä bhakti is superior to
demigod worship.
 All knowledge comes from the Krishna but all
knowledge doesn’t begin from the Krishna.
 Then glory of the path disused in the end.
 Krishna doesn’t want to make envious more
envious so he doesn’t speak BG to them, so
that their misfortune will not increase.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 This knowledge is the complete knowledge so
no other knowledge is required.
 Sa- vigyana is the realization of the
sweetness of the Krishna’s glories.
 Krishna is not saying you will be freed of
misery but there will be no inauspiciousness
so that there will be no misery in the
future.
 Krishna is giving the realization means he
giving the process by which the realization
can be attained.
 Liberation from the misery will come
gradually.
 “Idam viditva” in the last chapter, here in
the beginning “ idam jnana” is the knowledge
of the devotional service.
 Thought flow of this chapter is similar to
the chapter 7 with the more evolved
concepts.
VERSE 9.2:-

 the Padma Puräëa:

aprärabdha-phalaà päpaà

CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 For those who are engaged in the devotional
service of the Supreme Personality of
Godhead, all sinful reactions, whether
fructified, in the stock, or in the form of
a seed, gradually vanish.
 if one engages not only in hearing but in
trying to broadcast the message of
devotional activities as well, or if he
engages himself in helping the missionary
activities of Kåñëa consciousness, he
gradually feels spiritual progress.
 This advancement in spiritual life does not
depend on any kind of previous education or
qualification. The method itself is so pure
that by simply engaging in it one becomes
pure.
 In the Vedänta-sütra (3.2.26) this is also
described in the following words: prakäçaç
ca karmaëy abhyäsät. "Devotional service is
so potent that simply by engaging in the
activities of devotional service one becomes
enlightened without a doubt."
 äcäryavän puruño veda. One who is in
association with great äcäryas, even if he
is not educated or has never studied the
Vedas, can become familiar with all the
knowledge necessary for realization.

krameëaiva praléyante viñëu-bhakti-ratätmanäm

 Sins in the form of aprärabdha, küöa, béja

and prärabdha [Note: Aprärabdha karmas are
those which will not give effects in this
lifetime. They are the results of actions
from previous lifetimes which will manifest
in future lifetimes. Prärabdha karmas or
phala unmukha karmas are those karmas which
will manifest in this lifetime, as enjoyment
or suffering, arising from previous acts of
puëya or papa. Küta and béja are two stages
between the totally unmanifest aprärabdha
and manifest prärabdha karmas.] are
gradually destroyed for the person engaged
in bhakti to Viñëu. Padma Puräëa
 The other processes such as karma yoga do
not have these qualities. [Note: Bhakti
destroys all karmas, yields perception of
God, easy to execute, and continues after
liberation. Karma yoga does not destroy all
karmas until it turns to jïäna. Jïäna yoga
and añöaìga yoga are not easy to execute and
are given up on liberation. Karma yoga
indirectly leads to perception of ätmä, and
jïäna and añöaìga yoga give perception of
ätmä and paramätmä but not bhagavän.]
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
Therefore this is called the king of all
knowledge.
CCP:-

 King of knowledge, most confidential

knowledge, gives the direct perception of
the self, happily performed.
 Knowledge of the kings- means BG doesn’t
talk about the renouncing the world but
acting in the world and striving for the
liberation, so this is the duty of Ksatriya
to rule so they need to be educated in the
spiritual knowledge, they can spread the
knowledge. So it is called the knowledge of
the kings.
 Slowly from the first chapter focus from the
atma vidya then comes to the knowledge of
the Krishna so called the most confidential
knowledge.
 Every action we do we will get the reaction
that cannot be avoided.
 Prärabdha- karmik reaction which are coming.
Aprarabdha – which will not come in this
lifetime.
 Pavitram – it is pure and purifying.
 Uttamam – transcendental to this world.
 Bhakti gives the result but we have to
engage in the bhakti.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 When we feel bliss while engaged in the
bhakti and the don’t feel the bliss when not
engaged in the bhakti it is also indicative
of the power of the bhakti.
 Realization – that which is the reality is
experienced to be the reality.
 Realization comes when we do anuaman in such
a way that harmonizes our pratyaksha and
shabda.
 Anuman when it is rooted in the scripture
then it is called vichara.
 Realization doesn’t come by suffering but by
our response to the suffering.
 Comfort zone – when everything is in our
capacity.
 Stretch zone – something slightly beyond our
capacity, this helps us to grow. We should
be in the stretch zone.
 Panic zone- feeling burdened not able to do
anything, feeling of breaking.
 By taking the little responsibility beyond
our control we make steady progress.
 Su sukham – anybody can do it, very easy to
perform, independent of time place, space
and circumstances.
 Avyayam –beyond the modes.
VERSE 9.3:-
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL

Kåñëa consciousness.
 Here Krishna is glorifying the knowledge by
telling what will happen if on doesn’t take
to DS.
 Consciquences of not having the faith is one
will return to path of birth and death.
 Development of faith is Krishna conscious
activity.
 Here faith is faith in the bhakti.
 This verse is talking about spiritual
mysticism.
 Faith that by serving, loving Krishna we
will get all the happiness.
 Devotional service is not just the matter of
external engagement but internal
involvement.
 One has to work on our faith we have to find
out what increases our faith and do them
VERSE 9.4:-

 In seven verses, the Lord speaks of the

knowledge of the powers of God required by

CCP:-
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Pervading refers to the
brahmajyoti/Krishna’s energies.
 Refers to the supersoul aspect of the lord.
 Pervading can be explained by the example of
the king who through energies is pervading
the kingdom.
VERSE 9.5:-
CCP:-

 Here Krishna is directly contradicting what

he has said in the previous verse. He is
guiding us to the higher understanding.
 Sometimes both statements which are
contradictory can be reconciled by the third
statement which gives the higher
understanding, resolving the contradiction.
 Studying scriptures without the guidance of
guru and sadhu is like walking on the
philosophical banana peel, we have to find
the banana real meaning.
 Krishna doesn’t have to endeavor things
happen just by his desire.
 Here mamatma doesn’t mean Krishna and his
soul are different it’s like saying rahus
head that means rahu and his head are non
different here Krishna is non- different
from his soul.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
LINK: - Krishna will talk about how his yoga
aishwarya is.

mental, terms are the handle to understand
the concepts.
 Prabhupad used the familiar handle to
understand the unfamiliar concepts.
 Krishna gives the unlimited freedom to the
living entities within the limited
framework.
 Although Krishna is maintaining everything
he is not attached, that is the
inconceivability of Krishna’s relationship
with this world.
VERSE 9.7:-
CCP:-

 Here focus is material nature is under the

control of the Krishna, same concept was
there in the eight chapter but there
material nature was shown to be controller.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
LINK: - Krishna talking how material nature is
under his control.
VERSE 9.8:-

 The activities of the different species of

living beings are begun from the very moment
of the creation. It is not that all is
evolved.
LINK: - Krishna’s detachment.
VERSE 9.9:-

 Bondage arises from attachment to action.

 Lord is not attached to any activity of the
material world he is involved in the pastime
in the spiritual world so because of being
detached from the material world he is not
bound.
 Lord is not affected by the inequality in
the material world because it is due jivas
own karma.
CCP:-

 Krishna is destroying the whole universe but

he is not culpable because material nature
working as per the system set up by Krishna
but he is not forcing anyone to enter that
system,it is like having the jail where is
suffering but the king is forcing anyone to
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
go to the jail people are going to the jail
by their own wrong activities.
 Krishna is not emotionally involved so he is
bound and he doesn’t get reaction for this
annihilation.
VERSE 9.10:-

 Being the doer and being neutral are not

contradictory because the Lord rules by
proximity only. The småti says: yathä
sannidhi-mätreëagandhaù kñobhäya jäyate: it
is just like fragrance which causes
agitation by closeness. (Viñëu Puräëa
1.2.30) - BV
CCP:-

supervision of the lord but he is not caught
up in the material consciousness.
 We should feel destitute and lonely because
for devotees he is personally involved, for
others also Krishna has created the system
to reform.

pleasure of the senses and the cows." Sac-
cid-änanda-vigraham: "And Your form is
transcendental, full of knowledge, bliss and
eternality." (Gopäla-täpané Upaniñad 1.38)
CCP:-

 Previously Krishna said that material energy

is under his control here he is saying that
he is the controller of
everything,(maheshvaram).
 Jananti- knows ajananti- doesn’t know
avajananti- wrong understanding.
 Misunderstanding is great obstacle to take
to the Krishna consciousness.
 Because of misunderstanding one commits the
offence and continues in the material world.
 Mayavadi equate the matter with the form and
think everything which has the form is
limited.
 Absolute truth can be diffused and
concentrated.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Here objection is to the word “asrita

from him, but here stress is that this human
like form is the original form.
LINK;- what is the fate of those who deride
Krishna.

 "One who considers the body of Kåñëa to be

material should be driven out from all
rituals and activities of the çruti and the
småti. And if one by chance sees his face,
one should at once take bath in the Ganges
to rid himself of infection." People jeer at
Kåñëa because they are envious of the
Supreme Personality of Godhead.
CCP:-
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Asha, karmana and jnana all are baffled,
because their consciousness is misdirected.
 They take shelter of the raksasim, Asurim,
prakriti go deep into the illusion.
 They take up to the atheistic and demoniac
nature.
 They have the great offence of deriding the
personal form of the lord.
 Vedic literature advice to avoid such
offenders, it is like keeping the safe
distance from the patient, such association
can kill the devotion of the person.
 At cultural level we can be polite with such
people; we cannot abandon our culture of
being the gentlemen. We should avoid
philosophical discussion with them.
LINK :- moving to the kevalä bhakti, what is
the understanding of those who surrender to
the Krishna.
VERSE 9.13:-

 One can become free from the control of

material nature as soon as he surrenders his
soul to the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
CCP:-

 They worship Krishna with undeviated mind,

knowing Krishna to be adi and Avaya.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Word mahatma is used nowadays in cultural
way not knowing the real meaning, we need
not protest against such usage.
 Anu atma becomes the mahatma when he takes
the shelter of the vibhu atma.
 Krishna’s pleasure giving potency is hladini
Shakti we also have the pleasure giving
potency but it is very limited when we try
to enjoy independently.
 By taking shelter of Krishna one gets the
unlimited happiness from the hladini
potency.
 They with the undeviated mind serve Krishna.

 They constantly glorify me endeavoring with

determination, offering obeisance’s to me.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Kirtan has the broad categories chanting,
speaking, and hearing.
 Gita doesn’t go in the detail because for
Arjuna it not the issue.
 This verse is reference for chanting in the
BG.
 Kirtan has many forms, discussing the
serious management issue is also Kirtan.
 Prabhupad discussing management scientific
preaching at last days and telling that is
not different from the Kirtan.
 But always discussing management we may not
remain in that consciousness so we need
direct discussion of the Krishna katha.
 Devotee progresses by endeavoring with
determination.
 The word “ca” indicates the other forms of
devotional service like hearing, chanting
etc.
LINK; - those who are in between the spectrum.
VERSE 9.15:-

 Those who worship themselves, those who

worship pratéka or secondary forms, and
those who worship the viçvarüpa. These are
lower than the four types of the people who
approach the lord.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
CCP:-

 This verse talks about the people who are in

between who reject Krishna and who
completely surrender to Krishna.
 They worship in following ways- 1) in the
conception of the oneness 2) those who
worship the devatas.3) universal form all
these are explained in the BG.
 16-19 ekatvena 20-29 prithaktvena bahudha
again in the 11th and 12th chapter will talk
about these.
 Pantheism- worshiping everything as the god.
 Anything vast is equated with the lord.
 Prithaktvena ultimate reality is manifested
in many ways – polytheism.
 Ekatvena – im that lord.
 Ekatvena is considered the advanced level as
thoughts are moving from the material to the
spiritual.
 Pratik upasana – considering the demigods as
the symbols of the Brahman.
 Ahangropasana is not offensive it is
different from the mayavada here they do not
deny the Krishna’s form to be material but
consider themselves as the lord.
 Philosophically Mayavadi are elevated than
the karmis as they have the knowledge of the
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
futility of the world and live the life in
goodness.
 But by devotionally they are lowest as they
blaspheme and offensive to the Krishna so
karmis are more elevated than the Mayavadi
.Mayavadi have fewer chances to come close
to the Krishna.
 Concept of the worship which most conducive
to the devotional service is the vishwarup
upasana and least favorable is the
Ahangropasana.
 Ahangropasana is not the mayavada but the
one type of brahmavada.
VERSE 9.16-19:-
CCP:-

 Kratu refers to the vedic rituals (mentioned

in the four Vedas),yagya refers to the
sacrifice in the sruti scriptures.krishna is
saying he is the all aspect of the
sacrifice.
 A niskama karma yogi doesn’t know that what
he is doing is ultimately Krishna as in the
4th chapter all these things were said to be
Brahman.
 In vishwarup upasana one start seeing
everything as connected with the lord.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Here is Krishna is saying that the mother
and the father are the manifestation of the
absolute truth but they are not the absolute
truth.
 Anything that gives the shelter to us is the
manifestation of the AT.
 Here main focus is to see everything as
connected with the Krishna
 A devotee also sees the things beyond the
material level, we should see the hand of
Krishna and be grateful to the person who
has helped
 Krishna also explains how he is related in
various universal things.
 Both positive and the negative are the
manifestation of the absolute truth, a
devotee learns to see god both in the
positive and negative.
 Power of the death is also the manifestation
of the Krishna.
 Krishna is both the matter and spirit as
both being his energies.
 Krishna is helping the vishwarup upasakas to
understand that they are also worshipping
him only. As they may not know it.
LINK; - now Krishna will talk about the pratik
upasakas, demigod worshippers.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
VERSE 9.20:-

 Devotional service begins with the chanting

of the Hare Kåñëa mantra and side by side
trying to understand Kåñëa in truth.
CCP:-

 They are also worshippers of the lord but

indirectly.
 Vedas teach the karmakanda ritual by which
one attains the svarga.
 Soma – is the drink which helps to attain
the svarga.
 In this world drinking is like temporary
self induced madness, but this soma cannot
be compared with the modern drink.
 By drinking the soma they are purified.
 Divya- has many meanings here it means
celestial, but also it has meaning of being
the transcendental.
 BG urges don’t seek the material happiness
but higher than the material happiness, even
happiness of the svarga is also temporary.
 Divi- is of higher realm bhuvi- of the
material world.
LINK- Krishna now telling what happens to them
thereafter.
VERSE 9.21:-
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
CCP:-

 Traidharma refers to the followers of the

three Vedas and also those who do only
dharma, artha and Kama.
 They are desirers of the enjoyment but
Krishna has already told that those who seek
desires are never peaceful.
 Seeking anything lower than the eternity is
like cheating ourselves.
 Worshipping Krishna is much easy than the
doing elaborate three Vedic rituals.
 Path of the material punya is ultimately
futile.
 Trying to get the better material position
is not going to work.
 So called good material position which is
comfortable is like being on the iceberg in
the ocean but with the time the ice berg
will melt and everyone will have to be in
the troubling material situation.
 LINK:- kevalä bhakti is far superior to the
demigod worship.
VERSE 9.22:-

 sväminaù phala-çruter ity ätreyaù: from the

in the çruti. This is the opinion of
Dattätreya. (Vedänta Sütra 3.4.44)
 Vedänta says viçeñaà ca darçayati: the pure
devotees are a special case. (Vedänta Sütra
4.3.16) The Lord, not the conducting
deities, takes them to the spiritual world.
CCP:-

 This verse illustrates the personal interest

and personal intervention by the lord in the
life of those who approach him personally.
 This is not the business arrangement but the
reciprocation with the lord, ananya chintan
happens naturally when mind is fixed on the
lord.
 Constantly thinking about the Krishna is
practice; with practice it becomes habitual,
spontaneous.
 Krishna cares for the devotee as the
complete person both for the body and the
soul.
 Real insurance is for the eternal life.
 We fear that what we have may be taken away
and what we don’t have will not be provided.
 When we take care of the whys of the life
then Krishna will take care of the hows of
the life, but it doesn’t mean that we will
not be practical.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Prabhupad is the example of Krishna provides
for the devotes, he established ISKCON
without the money.
 We have to think practically but we don’t
have to think only practically.
 Karmakandi may attain the svarga but nobody
provides them in their need, with enjoyment
their piety is exhausted.
LINK; - further establishing the contrast with
the demigod worship.
VERSE 9.23:-
CCP:-

 Worshiping the other demigods is like the

lost prince serving the ministers and not
coming to the king who is his father.
 This verse is mispresent as the worship of
the any god is equal to the worship of the
Krishna but that is not the fact as it is
here said “avidhipurvakam”.
 Ultimate goal of Vedic worship is to take
the person to the transcendence to serve the
lord without material desires.
LINK;- ultimately lord is the enjoyer of
everything.

VERSE 9.26:-

 the offering should be made with an attitude

of love. Kåñëa has no need of food, since He
already possesses everything that be, yet He
will accept the offering of one who desires
to please Him in that way. The important
element, in preparation, in serving and in
offering, is to act with love for Kåñëa.
 If my devotee has an impure body, I do not
accept even that offering. He must have a
pure body (prayatätmanaù, ritually pure
body). This excludes persons from offering
during menstrual cycle or with other
impurities.
 The sign of their purity is the fact that
they cannot give up the service to My lotus
feet. Even if there is a trace of lust or

anger, it is insignificant, like the bite of
a toothless snake.
 In the three verses satatam kértayanto mäm,
ananyaù cintanyanto mäm, and patram puñpam
toyam phalam, the activities of pure bhakti
such as kértana, after being offered to the
Lord, are then performed, rather than being
offered after being performed.
CCP:-

 Here Krishna Is describing that worshiping

him is very easy.
 There has to be devotion, pure heart.
 One aspect of the Krishna’s mercy is his
accepting the offering of the devotees.
 What Krishna is looking for is love, with
love he accepts anything that is offered.
 Flower- Gajendra
 Leaf – Rukmini, when they lost Krishna in
gambling they were offering the gold
equivalent the weight of the lord but he was
balanced when tulasi leaf was offered with
devotion.
 Krishna is available to us to offer these
things through the deity form.
 We can offer the offering even if we don’t
have the devotion.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Although Krishna is omnipotent and can take
food through any organ but don’t want to
test his omnipotence but offer with the
love.
 We are offering our devotion through bhoga

Prasad.
LINK:- what if somebody doesn’t have the
devotion.
VERSE 9.27:-

 This is predominately bhakti with some

mixture of other elements. It is similar to
karma-yoga because activities are performed,
but it superior to karma-yoga and niñkäma-
karma-yoga because all activities, even
beyond prescribed duties, are offered to the
Lord without desire. It is similar to jïäna-
miçra-bhakti because the person has
knowledge of ätmä and Paramätmä. But it is
superior to jïäna- miçra-bhakti because it
has abundant appreciation of the personal
features of the Lord. But because the
consciousness is not always fixed on the
Lord, the activities are offered after
performance rather than before. Thus it
cannot be classed as ananyä bhakti.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL
KNOWLEDGE
 Whatever you do, whether following rules of
the Veda or whether performing worldly
action, whatever you eat or drink in
ordinary life, whatever austerities you
perform, do it in such a way that it becomes
an offering to Me. One should call this
neither niñkäma-karma-yoga nor bhakti-yoga.
The practitioners of karma-yoga offer
actions prescribed in the scriptures to the
Lord, but not all of the actions they do in
ordinary life. This view is accepted by
everyone.
 This verse is not the kevalä bhakti as the
acts are done then they are offered, but
also nit the niskama karma as the all the
acts are offered which are not even
prescribed in the scriptures.
 The nirapekña devotee performs only the
activities of bhakti. The pariniñöha
performs the activities of bhakti and as
well prescribed duties, but imbued with
devotion, and offered to the Lord. The
verses describing pure bhakti are performed
by both types of devotees.]
 What are offered in the saniñöha’s bhakti
are only the actions defined in the Vedas.
It is the pariniñöhita bhaktas who is
described in this verse, because, they offer
all of actions to the Lord, not just the
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL

prescribed actions, understood by the Lord’s
instruction in this verse, “Whatever you do,
offer it to Me.” [Note: In the case of the
sanistha and pariniñöhita devotees the
prescribed duties are performed and then
offered to the Lord, but the pariniñöhita
devotee offers all acts, not just he
prescribed duties. And more important, he
also dedicates most of his time to
activities of pure bhakti such as chanting.]
 Wanting to save the Lord the endeavor of
performing actions to instruct the people,
the pariniñöhita devotees perform all
actions as an offering (to instruct the
people only, and not with personal
motivation), and in doing to they please the
Lord.

CCP:-

 Krishna is telling generically here that

whatever one does can offer to the lord.

 By doing this we become free of the good and

bad result of our action.
 One will get the ultimate liberation in the
form of attaining the Krishna.
 Pure devote is not bound by the good or bad
of this world, because he is absorbed in the
Krishna,so one cannot understand his
activities.
VERSE 9.29:-

 When a diamond is set in a golden ring, it

looks very nice. The gold is glorified, and
at the same time the diamond is glorified.
The Lord and the living entity eternally
glitter, and when a living entity becomes
inclined to the service of the Supreme Lord

and so this combination is very nice.
 bhagavän bhakta bhaktimän: the Lord has
bhakti for the devotee. (SB10.86.59)
 upapadyate cäbhyupalabhyate ca: partiality
to His devotees is reasonable in the Lord,
and is found in the scriptures. (Vedänta

 Prabhupad did not encourage the ganesh puja

in the ISKCON to avoid the contamination.
 Arjuna also worshipped the demigod not as
the AT but to get the weapons.
 Focus of the Mahabharata is not the bhakti
but the karma kanda, so the demigod worship
is included in the Mahabharata.
 Ramanujacharya discouraged the demigod
worship, mahaprabhu didn’t mind it, and
mahaprabhus mood was to worship them as the
devotees of the lord.
 Mahaprabhu focused on the pure devotion but
did not reject Vedic culture.
 Vedic culture is monotheistic but multilevel
monotheism.
 Judaism and those religions think any other
form of the lord to be false and
manifestation of the devil to distract from

the worship of the real god so they try to
destroy the deities of the other religion.
 If the name of the Siva is chanted as the
common name then one will attain the abode
of the Siva.
 Chanting of the name without proper conception
consciousness/purpose/understanding one will
not get the result-Mayavadi chanting.
 Chanting wrong name with wrong conception one
will not get any result.
 Various ways of understanding the demigod
worship
 1) Demigod is the absolute truth- they are
called as the pasandi.
 2) Demigod as the symbol of the Brahman-if
they are not offensive then no problem but if
offensive then it is mayavada.
 3) Demigod as the representative of the lord,
gopis wanted to attain the Krishna so they
worshipped the katyayani Devi, mood of the
devote is to do anything to attain the
Krishna.
 All types of the worship go to the Krishna but
not the all worshippers go to the Krishna,
worshippers attain the particular destination
as per his conception and his aspiration.
 Offering everything we do the Krishna is
karma-jnana-misra pradhani bhuta bhakti.
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL

 Not karma as all activities is offered not
just the activities given in the scriptures.
 Not jnana as conception is not impersonal.
 Doing what one wants to do then offering it to
the lord is not the kevalä bhakti but doing
what lord wants to do is kevalä bhakti.
 Pradhani bhuta bhakti means bhakti is more
than the 20% and rest is the other process.
 Simultaneous partiality and impartiality can
be understood by taking into the consideration
which aspect of the lord is taken into
consideration. Equal to all –supersoul
inclined to the devotees – bhagavan aspect of
the lord.
 Lord is equal to all but intimate with those
who are trying to serve the lord.
 This verse is the glimpse in the heart of the
lord.
 Krishna is impartially partial as he is
inclined to the devotees but he allows anyone
to become his devote.
 Lord is not just the desire fulfiller but the
relationship builder, so comparing him with
the desire tree is not adequate.

extraordinary verse.
VERSE 9.30-31:-
CHAPTER 9 THE MOST CONFIDENTIAL

 The words sädhur eva, "he is saintly," are
very emphatic. They are a warning to the
nondevotees that because of an accidental
falldown a devotee should not be derided.
 In the Nåsiàha Puräëa the following
statement is given:
bhagavati ca haräv ananya-cetä
bhåça-malino 'pi viräjate manuñyaù
na hi çaça-kaluña-cchabiù kadäcit
timira-paräbhavatäm upaiti candraù

 The meaning is that even if one fully

engaged in the devotional service of the
Lord is sometimes found engaged in
abominable activities, these activities
should be considered to be like the spots
that resemble the mark of a rabbit on the
moon. Such spots do not become an impediment
to the diffusion of moonlight. Similarly,
the accidental falldown of a devotee from
the path of saintly character does not make
him abominable.
 He is ananya in the sense that he does not
worship or take shelter of anyone other than
me.
 After taking medicine, though the

 Durachar – bad act.

 Sudurachar- very bad act.
 Ananya bhak here refers to that the person
doesn’t deviate from the path of the bhakti,
no other shelter other than the Krishna,
doesn’t go to the other demigod.
 IMPLICATIONS:-
 1) Jiva goswami this is the rhetorical
statement, hypothetical statement to
glorify, but actually it is done to glorify
the process of the devotion that even if the
person is fallen still he s the sadhu.
 Anti nominiation – Jesus paid for all our
sins, but this cannot be accepted, devote
has to give up the sinful activities, this
in nowhere encourages to break the
regulative principle.
 Devotion doesn’t mean one should not be
responsible.
 2) from rasik ranjan- BVT

 Suduracharo- vikarma as per the BVT this
refers to the gopis of the vrindavan go went
to the krishna in the night which was the
Sudurachar.
 Gopis were ananya bhak devotee as they not
only gave up the bad for the lord but they
also gave up the so called the good of this
society.
 So gopis sadhu- such people who have such
understanding very quickly become the
dharmatma.
 Devotee will not perish means the
reciprocation between the lord and the
devotee will be there.
 Although krishna is unhappy with the falling
of the devotee but he is simultaneously
available for other devotees as he can
reciprocate with the devotees
simultaneously.
 On spiritual path there is no fatality means
the progress made is never lost.
 This verse is not to make us the complacent
but to make us have the mood of love not
that to make the lord to extent himself in
that way, as loving devotee we don’t want to
displease krishna.but accidental mistake
should not make us discouraged but to take
up again with faith in the lords words.

facilities are not by the birth bur by the

 Brahman’s have more facilities for
advancement as they are leading the life
based on the brahmanical principles.
 Male body has more chances for advancement
as they are more analytical, in women body
there is more bodily identification.
 We all different point of the start that
cannot be denied as the male and the female
body are different.
 There can be difference in the starting
point but once the process is started then
there is no difference.
 Women are less analytical or less
introspective but they are more emotional so
they can direct their emotions to the
Krishna, so they are more emotionally
inclined.

 This world is the place of misery means we
should not waste our complete energy in
making it completely perfect but we have to
Endeavour for basic comfort.
 Freedom from the misery will be less both on
the spiritual level and even on the material
level if we follow the instruction of the
Krishna.
 Too much focus on the material level
consumes our energy, we have to understand
the reality with time we will become old,
lose energy, and lose memory. This journey
is temporary so less comfortable or more
comfortable doesn’t make much difference.
 Stress of this verse is whatever your
position practice bhakti is, by bhakti we
can transcend our weaknesses which are
inherent.
 Our svabhava depends on our birth but
labeling just by the birth is not good.
 Point is practice bhakti and get out of this
