Petra Tou Romiou (Rock de los romanos), o Roca de Afrodita, es una pila de mar en Pafos,

Chipre. Su estatus en la mitología como el lugar de nacimiento de Afrodita hace que sea un
lugar turístico popular.
El mar en esta región es generalmente difícil, convencer a los turistas no nadar allí. No está
permitido subir a la roca. Un restaurante, una zona turística y el complejo Aphrodite Hills
están cerca.

En la mitología, la roca es descrito como el lugar de nacimiento de Afrodita. Gaia (madre

tierra) pidió a uno de sus hijos, Cronos, a mutilar a su padre, Urano (el Cielo). Cronos cortó
los testículos de Urano y los arrojó al mar. Una espuma blanca apareció de la que surgió
una doncella, las olas primero llevarla a Citera y luego llevarla a Chipre. La doncella,
llamada Afrodita, se dirigió a la asamblea de los dioses de Chipre. Los romanos
ampliamente referido a ella como Venus. Afrodita, atrajo a un gran culto en Pafos, que fue
finalmente aplastada por los romanos. Esto es evidente en el Santuario de Afrodita en la
antigua Pafos Kouklia. Un mito local es que cualquier persona que nadan alrededor de la
Roca de Afrodita será bendecida con la belleza eterna.
Se alternan leyenda indica que Digenis Akritas, un héroe griego, arrojó una piedra grande
para destruir las naves sarracenas. Hoy en día, esta piedra se erige como la Petra Tou

Destroyer es el cuarto álbum de estudio de la banda de Hard rock norteamericana Kiss,
lanzado el 15 de marzo de 1976. Fue el segundo disco consecutivo de Kiss en llegar al Top
20 en Estados Unidos, además de asegurarse el primer puesto en Alemania yNueva
Zelanda. El álbum fue certificado Disco de Oro el 22 de abril del mismo año y Disco de

por Bob Ezrin, reconocido por su trabajo con bandas como Pink Floyd.
Tras el éxito y llegada a la fama de Kiss con su disco Alive!, Destroyer se convirtió en una
de sus producciones más ambiciosas y elaboradas de la década de los 70s. Destroyer es
también el primer álbum de Kiss en contar con apoyo de músicos extra, entre los que se
encuentra la New York Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra, además de un músico que no
fue acreditado: Dick Wagner, el cual era parte de la banda de Alice Cooper, y que
reemplazó a Ace Frehley en canciones como "Sweet Pain" (en la que Ace rehusó grabar por
que no quería interrumpir un juego de cartas que estaba llevando a cabo durante la
grabación del corte) y "Flaming Youth", un tema que el mismo Ace co-escribió. Además
Wagner toco la guitarra acústica en la canción "Beth".
El Éxito que tuvo Kiss con Alive! y Destroyer hizo que la banda se embarcara en su primer
tour europeo. En 2003 el álbum fue colocado en la posición 489 en la lista de la
revista Rolling Stone de los 500 más grandes discos de la historia.

Maile Davis and Birth of the Cool [edit]

In September 1948, Miles Davis formed a nine-piece band that featured arrangements by
Mulligan, Evans and John Lewis. The band initially consisted of Davis on trumpet,
Mulligan on baritone saxophone, trombonist Mike Zwerin, alto saxophonist Lee
Konitz, Junior Collins on French horn, tubist Bill Barber, pianist John Lewis, bassist Al
McKibbon anddrummer Max Roach.
The band only played a handful of live performances (a two week engagement at the Royal
Roost jazz club and two nights at the Clique Club). However, over the next couple of years,
Davis reformed the nonet on three occasions to record twelve pieces for release as singles.
These were eventually compiled on a Capitol Records album, titled Birth of the Cool.
Mulligan wrote and arranged three of the tunes recorded ("Rocker," "Venus de Milo," and
"Jeru," the latter named after himself), and arranged a further three ("Deception,"
"Godchild," and "Darn That Dream").
