From the data of Mekar PHC in 2014 the sums of rheumatic diseases were
260 cases (29.7%), in 2015 were 272 cases (30.6%), in 2016 were 366 cases
(38.4%). Then, in 2017 period of Januari until March were 96 cases (22.5%). This
study was set out to find out the relation of dietary adherence knowledge and body
mass index (BMI) with rheumatic diseases relapse in elderly in Mekar PHC 2017.
Type of this study was analytic suvey with cross sectional study. Populations
of this study were all elderly with rheumatic diseases totally 96 people. The samling
technique in this study used accidental sampling with total sample 49 people. In
analyzing the data, the researcher applied statistic chi square test with test validity (α
= 0.05).
The result shows there is an average relationship between knowledge and
rheumatic diseases relapse, p value = 0.003 ≤ α =0.05, and the value of coefficient
contingence = 0.387 low category. There is an average relationship between dietary
adherence and rheumatic diseases relapse, p value = 0.000 ≤ α =0.05, and the value
of coefficient contingence = 0.449. Then, There is an average relationship between
body mass index (BMI) and rheumatic diseases relapse, p = 0.002 ≤ α =0.05, and
the value of coefficient contingence =0.408.
The researcher suggests to rheumatics patient to keep their dietary
adherence knowledge and body mass index (BMI) in ideally.
