“The Risk Factors of Contact Dermatitis Disease in the Working Area of Mekar Public Health Center of Kendari”

Contact dermatitis disease can be caused by acute and chronic
inflammatory reactions of a substance in contact with the skin. there are two types of contact dermatitis: irritant and allergic contact dermatitis. based on the profile data of Mekar Public Helath Center, contact dermatitis disease is the eighth ranks in the list of 10 major diseases. It is more common in women than in men. The variables in this study include contact length, personal hygiene, and history of allergies. this study aims to determine the risk factors of contact dermatitis disease in the Working Area of Mekar Public Health Center of Kendari. This research design is case control study with simple random sampling technique. The population in this study amounted to 164 people divided by 82 case groups and 82 control groups starting from the age group of 17 years. Analysis method using chi-square statistical test. The data collection tool used is by using the questionnaire. The result of this study indicate that the variable length of contact is a risk factor with X2 count value (4.424) > X2 table (3.841). the X2 count value of personal hygiene variable (0.098) < X 2 table (3.841), it is mean that personal hygiene is not risk factors for Contact dermatitis. Whereas the value of X 2 count for allergy history variables (6.050) > X2 table (3.841), indicates that it is a risk factor for Contact dermatitis. concluded from this study that the duration of contact and history of allergy is a risk factor of contact dermatitis disease while personal hygiene is not a risk factor for contact dermatitis. it is hoped for Public Health Centers to improve their health service and increase counseling especially about contact dermatits disease in working area of Mekar Public Health Centers.
