1. What do you want to major in?

The major I would like to major in is Psychology.

2. What career do you want to pursue and why?

The career I would like to pursue is Social Psychology because I would like to know and have a better
understanding as to why people behave, feel and do the things they do around a certain group of people.
A lot of my friends always come to me for advice including my mother in certain occasions and say that I
give out good advice which is what sparked my interest in this career.

3. Please list your top five qualities; with explanations and examples.
- Selfless because I always do things without expecting anything back in return and I have a habit
of putting my friends and family before me. An example would be how I am always there to help
out a friend whenever they need me to be there for them.
- Friendly because I get along with everyone. An example would be how I make friends really fast
because of how nice and friendly I am.
- Outgoing because I like to go out and try new things. It is also something that I have been
referred to by my friends.
- Determined and Persistent because I am determined to achieve my goals in life. An example
would be how my determination got me NHS. Despite the fact that I wasn’t eligible my
determination got me my spot in the club because I was always helping them out with things and
just being there and committed to the club although I was not a part of it.
- Independent because I am not one to rely on anyone. I get things done myself instead of waiting
around for others to do it for me.

4. What makes you unique and different than any other student?
What makes me unique and different from any other student is my background and where I come from.
My family and I are from Honduras and from experience you won’t meet a lot of people who are from
there. The most common ethnicities are Mexicans, Guatemalans, and Salvadorans so being from
Honduras sets me aside from everyone else. Our culture is similar yet very different from others such as
clothing, traditions, foods, and beliefs.

5. Discuss any struggles that you've overcome? (personal and academic; include both).
A personal academic struggle that I have overcome is stepping outside of my comfort zone and really
putting myself out there to reach my full potential. All my life I have been a mixture of an introvert and
extrovert, academic wise I was always an introvert due to the fact that I was always scared that my
opinions or beliefs would be shot down by classmates but overtime I got over this struggle and begin to
speak my mind and join clubs that will allow me to do so. Outside of school I had no problem being an
extrovert and stepping outside of my comfort zone to allow myself to have fun with my cousins and
friends such as going out on adventures and trying to things.

6. What is your vision for the world?

Years from now I would like the world to be a better place where people feel safe in because with all the
shooting events that have been going on I myself do not feel safe in this world. I would like the world to
prosper and become the great nation I know it can be.

7. What is your philosophy of life (thus far)?

To “just keep swimming” and remain positive at all times because negativity is not going to get you
anywhere in life. Also, to always keep moving forward because looking back or always remaining in the
past is not going to allow you to truly move forward onto bigger and better things.

8. What are your hobbies?

Some of my hobbies are dancing, reading, photography, singing (for fun) , and sometimes writing.
Whenever I am stressed or bored these are the things I usually lean towards and do specially dancing
and singing because it is fun and helps me out a lot whenever I am stressed.

9.List your extracurricular activities, community service, and volunteer service; also, please state if you
have held/hold a leadership role.
Extracurricular activities:
- Interact Club (Historian 2017-2018)
- Red Cross
- Associated Student Body ( Commissioner of Rally)
- National Honor Society
- Girls Basketball Team (Manager)
Community Service/Volunteer Service:
- I volunteered at an event called Heal the Bay in which we go to a beach (Playa Del Rey) and
clean up all the trash that is left on the sand for two hours.
- Red Cross allowed me to get the opportunity to volunteer in an event called Octofest which was
held in Robert F. Kennedy. The purpose of this event was to provide awareness to others about
fires and earthquakes. My job was to give people a tour around and hand out flyers.
- I volunteered at the USC Coliseum during football season last year with the basketball girls as a
form to get money for the team. We had a concession stand in which we sold food, drinks, and
snacks to those who went to watch college football games and I was set up as a cashier.
- On behalf of the Interact Club I was able to volunteer in a pumpkin patch with a few of my fellow
interactors and our job was to just sell pumpkins.
- I volunteered at my church Sunday mornings and was used as someone to stand by the door and
greet people while entering the church.

10. What is a life well-lived?

In my opinion a well-lived life is when someone has truly lived up to their greatest potential. Not just that
but they have also conquered their dreams and aspirations.

11. How do you define success, joy, and happiness?

Success, joy, and happiness are fundamentals of life that are important to me because success without
happiness is nothing. No one would like to live a life in where they are successful but living miserable,
although many actors/artist live that way I would not like to. Success to me is when one has
accomplished all their life goals and is living comfortably with no worries. Joy and happiness are
something that I personally strive for in life. It is when one has a feeling of pleasure and happiness within
themselves or life. If you have happiness and joy within your life than you have obviously been doing life
right.
