1. General explanation about safe work permit

A safe work permit is a formal written record that authorizes
specific work at a specific work location for a specific time period. It is
an authority for persons to carry out working including maintenance.
Permit are used for controlling and coordinating work to establish
and maintain safe working conditions.They ensure thatall foreseeable
hazards have been considered an that the appropriate precautions
are defined and carried out in the correct sequence. The permit is an
agreement between the issuer and the receiver that documents the
conditions, preparations, and limitations that need to be clearly
understood before work begins.Work permit give us a check list of
hazards within the work area and a instruction identifying things we
must do to ensure our safety the job.

2. Choose two safe work permit and discuss about it

Hot work
The hot is defined as cutting, welding, soldering and brazing
operations for construction/demolition/ maintenance / repair
activities that involve the use of portable gas and arc welding
equipment . The hot work permit is the means by which the
departments of facilities management , facilities planning and
construction and the department of environmental health and safety
and risk management services will be able to keep track of
construction activities that involve hot work and this activities being
conducted safely.
 Cold work permit
A cold work permit shall be obtained for all general work that does
not involves activities related to hot work.The tolls and equipment
used or the work it self is not generated any spark and cold refers to
general maintenance work on the plant or equipment where the uses
of any open flames.

Hot work

The industries that need hot work permit is any work that involved with
use of open flame, oxyacetylene burning, tar kettles, and the use of portable
spark or heat producing equipment in flammable storage or handling areas.The
jobs that use a hot permit is such as welding and cutting

Cold work permit

The industries that used cold work permit such as

 Civil maintenance work

 Mechanical maintenance work
 Insulation and painting
 Erection removal
 Maintenance of fire protection equipment
