Hi, Mandy!
I’m in Curitiba, in the South of Brazil. I arrived yesterday. It’s an
amazing city! There are parks everywhere (I counted 14 on my map).
The weirdest thing is there’s almost no traffic! Where are all the
cars? This morning, I went downtown in a huge red bus, about three
times the regular size. (Each one holds 270 people you wait in a long
tube!) One fare takes you wherever you want to go. I couldn’t
believe downtown –it looks like a garden! I walked around a
wonderful park named Passeio Público. It was great! Anyway, I’m
going to the modern art museum this afternoon.
That’s all for now!

Hi, Mandy!
Today I biked around the city for the whole day. There are special
lanes for bikes, so it was a lot of fun. The air is really fresh. There’s
almost no pollution. A waiter in a café said there aren’t many cars
because there transportation system here is so good. He takes a gray
“Rapid” bus that connects the suburbs with downtown. He said it’s
good for commuters. They are really quick and cheap… so no one
wants to take a car! Some buses have their own special lanes, too. I
love it here!

Hi, Mandy!
This morning, I went to Rua das Flores (Flower Street). You can only
go there on foot. It’s famous as the first street in Brazil that’s only for
people – no cars, buses or trucks. I also went to Rua 24 Horas (24
Hours Street), which has shops, bars, and restaurants open all day and
night. In the afternoon, I took a white tourist bus. It takes two hours and
goes all around the best parts of the city. Wonderful! Anyway,
tomorrow I’m leaving for Rio, so I’ll write from there.
Love, Kim
