IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATION ON THE UPCOMING BACHELOR

SCIENCE OF MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS FOR
SECOND YEAR.

Section 1. Title – This Rules and Regulation shall be known as THE IMPLEMENTING
RULES AND REGULATIONS ON QUALIFYING EXAMINATION FOR SECOND YEAR.

Section 2. Declaration of Policy. – The Department of Accountancy recognizes the

importance of the fundamentals of accounting in studying higher accounting subjects
further. Hence, it shall develop and nurture competent, virtuous, and productive and well-
rounded students whose knowledge of the basic accounting shall be excellent and
qualitative.

This rules and regulations shall be interpreted, construed and carried out in the
light of the above Declaration of Policy.

Section 3. Objectives. – This rules and regulations shall provide for and govern:

a. The standardization and regulation of accounting education;

b. The examination for qualification of second years; and
c. The supervision, control, and regulation of the number of students taking up BS
Management Accounting.

Section 4. Board of Examiners and its composition. – The board of examiners shall be
composed of the Department Head of Accountancy as its chairman and eight (8)
examiners, three (3) and one (1) head to be appointed by the chairman who are
independent and unrelated to those who are taking up the course.

Section 5. The Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting Qualifying

Examinations for Second Year. – All freshmen students taking up BS Management
Accounting shall be required to undergo a qualifying examination to be given by the
Department of Accountancy in such places and dates as the Board of Examiners may
designate. The venue and dates of examinations shall be posted in the Bulletin board for
the year issued by the board.
Section 6. Qualifications of Applicants for Examinations. – Any person applying for
examination shall establish the following requisites to the satisfaction of the department
that he/she:

a. is a student of the University of Makati;

b. is taking up Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting; and
c. has taken up/taking up Accounting 1, 2 and 3 subjects.

The official Certificate of Registration shall be submitted in support of the above

requirements.

Section 7. Scope of Examination. – The qualifying examination for second years shall
cover, but are not limited to, the following subjects:

a. Accounting 1
b. Accounting 2
c. Accounting 3

The examination is split into two tests proper.

a. Morning – Multiple Choice

b. Afternoon – Practical Examinations.

Section 8. Rating in the Qualifying Examination. – To be qualified as having passed

the qualifying examination for second years, a candidate must obtain an average of
seventy five percent (75%) in both tests.

Section 9. Report of Ratings – The board shall submit to the department head the
ratings obtained by each candidate within ten (10) calendar days after the examination.
Upon the release of the results of the examination, the candidate must submit his/her
claim stub to the releasing officer which was given during the examination.
