I n d i v i d u a l tests

The manufacturer shall carry out the routine tests prescribed at paragraph 24 of the EN 50014 standard and at
paragraph 7 of the EN 50019 standard.

The manufacturer is exempted from the overpressure test on the motor enclosure and on the terminal box, since they
have been submitted to an overpressure test at a pressure corresponding to 4 times the reference pressure and
respectively:
36 bar on the motors with center height 71, 80,90
30 bar on the motors with center height 100
27,5 bar on the terminal box

The dielectric test with applied voltage shall be performed at 2U i- 1000 V with a minimum value of 1500 V
between the supply terminals and earth (U = rated voltage) on the E E x e terminal box .

The accessories used for cable entries and for unused holes shall be certified according the following standards:

In both cases a minimum degree of protection IP 65 shall be guaranteed according to
EN 60034-5 and EN 60529 standards.

If cylindrical threads are used, the coupling between the cable entry and the terminal box shall be made
according to the requirements indicated in the documents annexed to this certificate.
The anticondensate heaters installed inside the motor can have a maximum power of 440 W.

Inverter supply:

In alternative, the three-phase asynchronous motors can be supplied by inverter. In this case the electrical
characteristics are indicated on a suitable label. For the other electrical characteristics see the technical note
annexed to this certificate.
The motors supplied by inverter shall be provided, inside the stator winding, with P T C or PT 100 thermal
detectors.
The PTC thermal detectors are calibrated for an operation temperature of 155 °C for the temperature class T3
(T 150 °C) and at 120 °C for the temperature class T4 (T 135 °C); The protection circuit connected with the PT 100
thermal detectors shall be calibrated for an operation temperature of 155 °C for the temperature class T3 (T 150 °C)
and at 120 °C for the temperature class T4 (T 135 °C) according to I E C 61508 standard.
The operation of the thermal detector shall guarantee the disconnection of the supply; the resetting of the supply shall
not be automatic.

INTRODUCTION
T h e p u r p o s e of t h e Floe Unit is to p r e p a r e a p o l y m e r solution out of dry p o l y m e r p o w d e r m i x e d with
water.
T h e installation c o n s i s t s of the following c o m p o n e n t s :

4. Polymer disperser
5. H o p p e r for dry p o l y m e r p o w d e r

T h e p o l y m e r p o w d e r is d i s p e r s e d with the d i s p e r s e r a n d d o s e d In the first c o m p a r t m e n t of t h e t a n k .


T h e d i s p e r s e d p o l y m e r Is m i x e d v e r y intense with a fast r u n n i n g agitator a n d diluted till the satisfying
c o n c e n t r a t i o n . W h e n t h e first c o m p a r t m e n t Is full the p o l y m e r c o n c e n t r a t i o n will o v e r f l o w to the s e c o n d
c o m p a r t m e n t . H e r e the ripening of the p o l y m e r c o n c e n t r a t i o n will t a k e p l a c e with a s l o w r u n n i n g
agitator. W h e n this c o m p a r t m e n t is c o m p l e t e l y full the p o l y m e r c o n c e n t r a t i o n will o v e r f l o w in t h e third
c o m p a r t m e n t a n d ready for u s e . T h r o u g h level m e a s u r i n g this c o m p a r t m e n t will b e c o n t r o l l e d .

INSTALLATION

t h e user m a n u a l , electrical d r a w i n g , P & I D a n d o p e r a t i n g i n s t r u c t i o n s . T h e u s e d c o d e s for the different
components match these diagrams en P&ID.

• Transport instructions
In c a s e of t r a n s p o r t i n g t h e Floe Unit t h e h o p p e r a n d t a n k s h o u l d be e m p t y .
T h e Floe Unit s h o u l d not b e t r a n s p o r t e d u p side d o w n o r o n t h e s i d e s . T r a n s p o r t a t i o n s h o u l d b e frost
free.

• Installation instructions
T h e unit s h o u l d be m o u n t e d in a dry, frost f r e e p l a c e on a s m o o t h - , horizontal-, s u p p o r t i n g floor. T h e
unit s h o u l d be p l a c e d in a w a y it is a c c e s s i b l e to c a r r y out m a i n t e n a n c e a n d o p e r a t i n g .

Description of the unit

• Working principal
T h e T a s k Floe Unit Is an a u t o m a t i c running p o l y m e r d o s i n g unit, no external release is n e c e s s a r y to
o p e r a t e the unit. In a u t o m a t i c r u n n i n g m o d e t h e r e will be a special a m o u n t of p o l y m e r c o n c e n t r a t i o n

a l a r m " will be c a r r i e d o u t s i d e .
In the first c o m p a r t m e n t the p o l y m e r solution will be m i x e d with a fast running agitator to b e c o m e a
h o m o g e n o u s m i x t u r e . P o l y m e r solution will o v e r f l o w into the s e c o n d c o m p a r t m e n t w e r e the r i p e n i n g
will t a k e place with a s l o w running agitator. T h e p o l y m e r solution will o v e r f l o w in t h e third c o m p a r t m e n t
w e r e it is ready to u s e . T h e level s w i t c h e s will t a k e c a r e of the a u t o m a t i c r u n n i n g of the unit.

- Bunker hopper
B u n k e r i n g of dry p o l y m e r p o w d e r will t a k e place in the b u n k e r h o p p e r w h i c h is p l a c e d on t o p of t h e
d o s i n g s c r e w . B e c a u s e of h y g r o s c o p e properties of p o l y m e r the a m o u n t in the b u n k e r s h o u l d be
a r o u n d the c o n s u m p t i o n of 1 day. At high humidity, p o l y m e r c a n be sticky. T h e u s e of an o p t i o n a l
v i b r a t i n g m o t o r c a n s t i m u l a t e the t h r o u g h p u t . W h e n u s i n g p o l y m e r with a very fine s t r u c t u r e a v i b r a t i n g
motor can be necessary.
W h e n u s i n g a n o p t i o n a l level s e n s o r , level o f dry p o l y m e r c a n b e m o n i t o r e d . W i t h a n o p t i o n a l potential
f r e e c o n t a c t a n d a signal light a notification will be s h o w n to fill the hopper.

• Dosing screw
W i t h t h e d o s i n g s c r e w dry p o w d e r p o l y m e r i s t r a n s p o r t e d f r o m the h o p p e r t o the d i s p e r s e r . T h e s p e e d
of t h e d o s i n g s c r e w is v a r i a b l e . By pulsing (start/stop of t h e d o s i n g s c r e w ) the c a p a c i t y c a n be set. T h e
p u l s e p a u s e c a n be set on the L . O . G . O inside the control p a n e l a n d s h o u l d be c a r r i e d out at start up of
the unit. T h i s is n e c e s s a r y , b e c a u s e e v e r y p o l y m e r has different properties that c a n c h a n g e the
c a p a c i t y . (Like density a n d size).

• Disperser
P u r p o s e of the d i s p e r s e r is to d i s p e r s e dry p o l y m e r p o w d e r b e f o r e it e n t e r s the first c o m p a r t m e n t . T h i s
will c a u s e a n o n clotting p o l y m e r s o l u t i o n . T h e w a t e r flow to the d i s p e r s e r will be set with the c o n t r o l
valve in the best w a y to c r e a t e a c o n i c a l w a t e r p a t t e r n .

• Heating element.
P o w d e r p o l y m e r d o e s h a v e very s t r o n g h y g r o s c o p e p r o p e r t i e s . T o avoid a n y m o i s t u r e i n t h e d o s i n g
s c r e w a heating e l e m e n t is m o u n t e d at t h e e n d of the d o s i n g s c r e w . T h e heating e l e m e n t is
continuous running.

• Water panel
T h e o p e r a t i n g water i s led t h r o u g h m a i n v a l v e , reduction v a l v e flow m e t e r a n d s o l e n o i d t o t h e
d i s p e r s e r a n d b y p a s s v a l v e . W i t h t h e reduction valve w a t e r p r e s s u r e i s c o n t r o l l e d w h i c h c a n b e r e a d
of at the p r e s s u r e g a u g e . By m e a n s of flow d e t e c t i o n on the flow m e t e r the flow of o p e r a t i n g w a t e r is
c o n t r o l l e d . W i t h t i m e m o n i t o r i n g the reaction t i m e c a n be set in c a s e there is no w a t e r flow

• Drain- and suction piping


On the t a n k t h e r e is a m u t u a l d r a i n - , o v e r f l o w line. V a l v e s are m o u n t e d to drain the s y s t e m . T h e
s u c t i o n v a l v e c l o s e s the s u c t i o n c o m p a r t m e n t (third c o m p a r t m e n t ) .

B e f o r e starting up the Floe Unit, the w e i g h t p e r c e n t a g e of the p o l y m e r solution n e e d e d a n d retention
t i m e s h o u l d be c a l c u l a t e d (this m e a n s , the retention t i m e of the p o l y m e r solution in t h e p r e p a r a t i o n
compartments).
Different c o n c e n t r a t i o n s of p o l y m e r solution c a n be m a d e by s e t t i n g s of t h e t i m e interval of the d o s i n g
s c r e w a n d t h e control of the w a t e r flow. A c o n c e n t r a t i o n m o r e t h a n 0 , 2 5 % p o l y m e r solution s h o u l d be
a v o i d e d , b e c a u s e the d i f f e r e n c e in viscosity will c a u s e t r e a t m e n t of the p r o d u c t to be m o r e difficult.

• First start up of the Task Floe Unit


D u r i n g first start up the agitators are not r u n n i n g b e c a u s e of the low/low level in t h e third (suction)
c o m p a r t m e n t . T h i s c a n be a v o i d e d by filling up t h e third c o m p a r t m e n t with w a t e r till it r e a c h e s t h e
low/low level s e n s o r . T h i s will result in a less c o n c e n t r a t e d p o l y m e r solution in the third c o m p a r t m e n t
with first start up

piping a n d drain a n d o v e r f l o w piping won't w o r k properly. D a n g e r of o v e r f l o w i n g of the c o m p a r t m e n t s
might occur.

2. Danger of pinching

After r e m o v a l o f t h e g u a r d o f t h e dosing s c r e w pinching m i g h t o c c u r w h e n t o u c h i n g t h e d o s i n g s c r e w .
W h e n o p e n i n g t h e inspection c o v e r s p i n c h i n g might o c c u r w h e n t o u c h i n g t h e agitators.

3. Danger of burning.
W h e n touching the dosing end there can be danger of burning of body parts.
W h e n d o s i n g p u m p i s running d r y d a n g e r o f b u r n i n g might o c c u r w h e n t o u c h i n g the p u m p .

4. Danger of electrocution.
W h e n o p e n i n g t h e c o n t r o l p a n e l w i t h o u t s h u t t i n g the p o w e r o f first, d a n g e r o f e l e c t r o c u t i o n might

INSTALLATION
W o r k o n the T a s k Floe Unit s h o u l d b e d o n e b y c o m p e t e n t a n d qualified p e r s o n a l . T h e y s h o u l d k n o w
the user m a n u a l , electrical d r a w i n g , P&ID a n d o p e r a t i n g i n s t r u c t i o n s . T h e u s e d c o d e s for the different

• Working principal

• Bunker hopper
B u n k e r i n g of d r y p o l y m e r p o w d e r will f a k e p l a c e in the b u n k e r h o p p e r w h i c h is p l a c e d on top of t h e
d o s i n g s c r e w . B e c a u s e o f h y g r o s c o p e p r o p e r t i e s o f p o l y m e r the a m o u n t i n the b u n k e r s h o u l d b e
a r o u n d the c o n s u m p t i o n of 1 day. At h i g h h u m i d i t y p o l y m e r c a n be sticky. T h e u s e of a optional
vibrating m o t o r c a n s t i m u l a t e d the t h r o u g h p u l . W h e n u s e p o l y m e r w i t h a very f i n e s t r u c t u r e a v i b r a t i n g
motor can be necessary.
W h e n u s i n g a n o p t i o n a l level s e n s o r , level o f d r y p o l y m e r c a n b e m o n i t o r e d . W i t h a n o p t i o n a l p o t e n t i a l
free c o n t a c t a n d a signal light a notification will be s h o w n to fill the h o p p e r .

• Dosing screw
W i t h the d o s i n g s c r e w dry p o w d e r p o l y m e r i s t r a n s p o r t e d from the h o p p e r t o the d i s p e r s e r . T h e d o s i n g
s c r e w is r u n n i n g w i t h a f i x e d s p e e d . By p u l s i n g ( s t a r t / s t o p of the d o s i n g s c r e w ) the c a p a c i t y c a n be s e t .
T h i s s h o u l d b e set w h e n s t a r t i n g u p t h e unit. This i s n e c e s s a r y , b e c a u s e e v e r y p o l y m e r h a s different
p r o p e r t i e s that c a n c h a n g e the c a p a c i t y . (Like density a n d size).

• Disperser
P u r p o s e of t h e d i s p e r s e r is to d i s p e r s e d r y p o l y m e r p o w d e r b e f o r e it e n t e r s the first c o m p a r t m e n t . T h i s
will c a u s e a n o n clotting p o l y m e r solution. T h e w a t e r f l o w to the d i s p e r s e r will be s e t w i t h the c o n t r o l
valve in the b e s t w a y to c r e a t e a c o n i c a l w a t e r p a t t e r n .

• Heating element.
P o w d e r p o l y m e r d o e s h a v e v e r y s t r o n g h y g r o s c o p e p r o p e r t i e s , t o a v o i d a n y m o i s t u r e i n the d o s i n g
s c r e w a h e a t i n g e l e m e n t is m o u n t e d af t h e e n d of the d o s i n g s c r e w . T h e heating e l e m e n t is
continuous running.

• Water panel

• First start up of the Task Floe Unit


D u r i n g first start up the agitators a r e not r u n n i n g b e c a u s e of t h e low/low level in the third ( s u c t i o n )
c o m p a r t m e n t . T h i s c a n be a v o i d e d by filling up the third c o m p a r t m e n t with w a t e r till it r e a c h e s t h e
