Job description:

 A Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) assists the veterinarians in caring for the

animals. The job of the technician is to offer skilled, medical assistance to the

veterinarian.

Job duties/tasks:

 The technician will also give animals a general exam for medical issues and work with

veterinary assistants to groom and comfort animals, clean cages, and do other

nonmedical work. In addition, technicians also help monitor anesthesia, take x-rays and

sonograms, clean teeth, provide rehabilitation, monitor surgical equipment, and conduct

laboratory tests.

Qualifications and/or required experience:

 Must obtain hands-on experience (internship).


Required Education:

 Must complete pre-requisites (gen. ed). Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science

degree in Veterinary Technology. Pass Veterinarian Technician National Exam. Pass the

North American Veterinary Licensing Examination.

Additional information:

 Must have rabies immunization, tetanus booster within past 5 years, proof of health

insurance, and purchase of own uniform.
