• A milestone technical achievement, Shure’s Prethos™ Advanced Preamplifier Technology provides 4dB of self-noise and max SPL of 131 dB for a
total dynamic range of 127 dB – an increase of 7 dB that defines the new standard for cleanly nuanced audio capture
• Multiple polar patterns–cardioid, omnidirectional and bidirectional–for maximum flexibility in a wide variety of recording applications
• Dual 1 inch, externally biased, ultra-thin, 2.5 μm, 24 Karat gold-layered, low mass diaphragms provide superior transient response
• Class A, discrete, transformerless preamplifier for transparency, extremely wide frequency response and no crossover distortion. Minimizes har-
monic and intermodulation distortions.
• Premium electronic components and gold-plated internal and external connectors
• Subsonic filter eliminates rumble from mechanical vibration below 17 Hz.
• Switchable 15 dB pad for handling extremely high sound pressure levels (SPLs)
• 3-position switchable low-frequency filter helps reduce unwanted stand vibration noise or counteract proximity effect
• Integrated three-stage “pop” protection grille reduces plosives and other breath noise

Thank you for purchasing the MXL 604 Instrument Condenser microphone. With proper care, this mic will provide
MSRP:
many years of satisfaction. For best results, please take $39.99
a few moments to review this literature.
General Characteristics
This microphone has a twenty millimetre gold-sputtered diaphragm with a fixed cardioid pickup and an interchangeable omni-directional
capsule. Condenser microphones tend to be very sensitive, readily revealing very subtle sonic details. They also tend to pick up ambient
sounds more than dynamic microphones, which can lead to powerful feedback if you are not careful. We strongly advise experimentation
with placement and isolation requirements with the gain initially set low to avoid equipment and hearing damage!
Power Requirements
IMPORTANT - This unit requires phantom power at 48 volts, +/- 4 volts. Each unit has been thoroughly checked before shipping,
so if you do not hear sound, check that the phantom power on your mixer or separate power supply is switched on!
Microphone Cables
The microphone cable can have a profound effect on the sound of any microphone. Even the finest microphones will sound poor if
the interconnect cable allows noise to enter, or causes distortion and loss of information. Use only the best microphone cable your
budget will allow. We recommend using Mogami® brand cable.
Care
Dust and foreign material can degrade the performance of a microphone over time so always store the unit in its case. Remove
fingerprints from the exterior with a clean soft cloth.
