Bare minimum configuration for WM

to work along with Inventory
Management
Hello Gurus,

https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/2073631 1/5
3/1/2018 Bare minimum configuration for WM to work along with Inventory Management

For one of our Projects, in addition to the normal Inventory Management, there is a requirement of WM
(Warehouse Management) just to enable the tracking of Material received to the Storage Bin level, as
Client manage the Inventory in the existing Warehouses at Storage Bin level.

Other no major requirement is expected from WM like, automation of Putaway, etc.

Few of the Inventory scenarios are like Goods receipt, Goods Issue, Warehouse to Warehouse transfer,
Bin to Bin transfer, Physical Inventory, Subcontracting for repairs, Vendor Consignment, also they will
handle Project Special stock.

Now the configurations for Inventory Management are enabled for all the above processes. I now need to
know, what are the bare mimimum configurations required so as to enable the WM related process,
following each of the IM processes, like Putaway after Goods Receipt, Stock removal before Goods
Issue, etc.

The Configuration for the Enterprise Structure to support Warehouse Management have been completed
by creating the Warehouses & assigning the Storage locations to these Warehouses.

A detailed step by step process would be very helpful for me at this stage.

And i surely will assign points for all the useful answers.

Regards,

Zafar.

Hi,

After assigning warehose number to storage location,

please create storage types. Create storage section. One
thumb rule is to create atleast one storage section. Create
picking area, Foe bin to bin transfer -Create bins, and
create WM movements for astock transfer. Create interim
storage tpes. Create different put away strategies and
picking strategies according to your requirement.

Create refernce movement types. For special stocks

please use special stock indicators along with movement
type during transaction eecution. To carry out physical
inventory differen methods are there. If you want cysle
counting as one of method please check CCindicator and
ABC indicator in material master record. For
Subcontracting process there are no separate settings
apart from IM. Thanking you.

Hi,

As per the above mentioned requirement, the best way what I feel is to copy the
settings of a SAP standard Warehouse number. Through this all the relevant settings
will get copied to your new warehouse number which you can assign to your plant &
SL combination.

Regarding the master data such as material, Storage bins you have to create the
same.

Use the following menu path to create Storage bins

SPRO - LE - Warehouse Management - Master Data - Storage Bins

Define Storage Bin Types

Define Storage Bin Structure -

Define the Bin Structure & go to Environment tab in Menu to create the Bins

Also use the t.code - LX20 to create the interim bins.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks & Regards,
