We are grateful to those who give of their time and
care to bring Holy Communion to our parishioners
who cannot make it to church due to sickness or in-
firmity. If you know of anyone who would like to re-
ceive communion in their home or while hospitalized
at West Lincoln Hospital, please contact the parish

2018 Share Lent Campaign - Defending the
rights of poor communities fractured by
forced eviction in Nigeria
In Nigeria, forced evictions are carried out violently,
without consulting those concerned, as well as with-
out warning, compensation, or providing alternative
housing. Thanks to your support the Social and Eco-
nomic Rights Action Centre, a Development and
Peace partner, can train community leaders who
then work with some of the most marginalized com-
munities so they can engage in effective dialogue

Drivers all know that a
stop sign means stop.
But, because we are
clever at bending the law,
we can soon convince
ourselves that if there’s
no traffic cop watching,
and if we’re in a hurry, it’s OK to just slow down.
In today’s first reading, the Ten Commandments
are delivered to us. And, because we are clever, we
start bending those commandments to fit our needs.
For example: “If it’s under a dollar in value, it is not
really stealing.” Or any of the other ways we some-
times stretch the commandments.
Some “rule twisters” may feel guilty when they
hear the responsorial psalm: “The law of the Lord is

tion - Formation in Spiritual Discernment ~ that the
Church may appreciate the urgency of formation
in spiritual discernment, both on the personal and
communitarian levels.

This “visual” Passion study will be a combination of
reading passages from the Gospels and showing im-
ages of Jerusalem (today and reconstructed from
Christ’s time). Being able to picture his activities that
last week will help us as we prepare ourselves dur-
ing Lent by letting Jesus’ sacrifice sink in and then
celebrate the miracle of the resurrection. Come join
us and bring a friend.

On Saturday, March 17 in every
parish church across the dio-
cese, a priest will be available
from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to
celebrate Reconciliation individ-
ually. There will also be Eucha-
ristic Adoration during this time. No matter how long
it has been, you are welcome to celebrate the Sacra-
ment of Penance, which assists us in spiritual disci-
pline as we turn away from sin and open our hearts
to reconciliation and healing -- or you can also simp-
ly come to pray before the Lord.

Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Amo-
ris Laetitia, The Joy of Love
This faith formation series is being held on four con-
secutive Monday evenings, beginning April 9, 2018,
7-9pm., at the Catholic Centre, 3400 Merrittville
Highway, Thorold, L2V 4Y6. Register online at

our church with glorious flowers that announce
“Christ is Risen!” Envelopes for Easter Flowers and
décor are available in the pew racks or vestibule of
the church and can be returned with the collection.
