Chapter One Installation, Upgrading and

Uninstallation

1.1 The Software Components

One software: Hi-Q software

1.2 Installation

Install Hi-Q software to “NandFlash” directory. The installation has already been made
when the instrument is dispatched from the factory, the users only need to look over the
software edition newly, upgrade in time.

1.3 Upgrading

The company will regularly upgrade the latest edition software on company's official site,
and enable users to download and upgrade directly. Users install Hi-Q latest software to
NandFlash directory and replace the previous ones. Save the original “exe” file before
covering the software.

1.4 Uninstallation

Delete this Hi-Q software folder.

Chapter Two Rapid Switching On

2.1 Operation Procedure

I. Build the new project file, data dictionary and coordinate system on the computer,
consulting the desk-top manual.

II. Transmit the built-up files above to handset from the computer.

III. Before the field work, make sure the measurement mode, instrument presetting,
coordinate system and network parameters setting up etc. is right, such as difference mode
setting etc..

IV. Collect data.

V. Transmits the collected data to a computer, then begin GIS data processing such as
editing and mapping. On the computer, or change the data collected into other file formats
that GIS software supports.

2.2 The Data Transmission

1. Refer to the desk-top manual to operate desk-top software.

2. Before connecting handset to computer in the first time, make sure the connecting
procedure Microsoft ActiveSyncs 4.5 in CD installed already, then connect USB port to
computer while the other end with pin of data cable to GIS instrument transmitting port.

3. “new hardware” is pop-up in computer, and install the drive from CD.

4. Connection between handset and computer can process data download, upload,
duplicate and paste as U disk. Duplicate and paste layer and work files from computer to
NandFlash directory of handset or to SD card realizing data upload while duplicate and
paste the data from handset to the computer realizing the handset data download.

5. Use one data wire to connect handset data transmitting port and the base station to set
up RTK base station directly, realizing the handset and base station communications.

Figure 4-1

There are nine buttons on the main interface, "real-time collection" , "Post Difference
collection " , "static collection" , " coordinate system " , "network setting" , "instrument
setting" , " satellite map" , " tools" , "about".

Introduce the directory of saving data:

The collected data will be saved to “NandFlash “file automatically without choosing
directory to save by users. That means the collected data will be saved in a newly-built
"Project" in “NandFlash “automatically. The data of "real-time collection " will be saved in a
newly-built " RTD " file in a “Project" of " NandFlash " , the data of "postdiff collection " will
be saved in a newly-built "postDiff " file in a “Project" of " NandFlash ", and the data of
"static collection" will be saved in a " newly-built static " file in a “Project" in " NandFlash "
automatically.

8
Therefore, we go to “NandFlash “to find the collected data in “Project” file after finishing
data collection.

GPS Type: This software can support the equipment with CSI main board and NovAtel
main board. HD8600 stands for receivers with CSI main boards, V8 for NovAtel main
boards. Note: for Q5, Q6, and Q-RTK, please choose “TYPE_C” while for Q1(GIS+), please
choose “TYPE_I”
COM port: Built-in port of main board is COM2, in case without connection with outer
instruments, the port no needs to be set.
Baudrate: The Baud rate to communicate with the main board. If no outer connected
instruments, set it as default.
AntennaH: The setting of antenna here is effective only to dynamic collection. Resetting is
essential for static collection.
Angle cut-off: the elevation angle (satellite cut-off angle) definition
Age: when the difference age is more than the setting value, solution status will be
single-point position. This setting will be saved, no need to reset after switching on handset,
in case still follow this setting, it is just required to click “ok” going to setting interface.

4.3.3 SBAS Setting

4.3.3.1 App Setup

Q5 GIS Data collector real time difference work mode comprises GPRS mode and SBAS

4.7.8.2 Details Point Collection

The sporadic Point Collection is a simple collection with a collection on geographical

coordinates and without operation on layer. The ultimate result will be saved as *.dtl format
which can be opened by TXT.
First you should open or create one Sporadic Point File as follow figure:

Figure 4-79

55
Input the file name:

Figure 4-80

After collect a point and click , a pop-up dialog will ask you to input name of the point. If
you collect more than one point before recording, system will add “0, 1, 2….” after the point

name. For example, you click three points by clicking “ ” three times and the point will be

save in the EMS memory. Then you click “ ” (The data will be saved in the hard disc) and
input the point name “1”, the collection shall finish. When you export the data, the names of
these three points should be “10”, “11”, “12”.

Click “ ” after you input detailed point information to record. Then it will turn to the main
interface:

4.7.8.3 Offset Collection

Figure 4-84
Offset collection is mainly applied for one target point collection on which GPS can not have
coordinate solution. It can collect one or several points in good solution status around target
point to calculate the target point coordinate by the distance and azimuth comparing with
the target point. And use the distances or azimuth from collected points and target point to
confirm the coordinate of target point. Or you can select a collected ground object to be
basic point of the offset collection. Details as follows:
There are four methods:
Ⅰ:“Two points and distans”. Two collected points and distances from collected points to
target point are known. You can use Forward Intersection principle to get the solution of
target point.
Ⅱ: “Two point and angles”. If you know two points and angle between two points to the target point, the
solution can be worked out by Forward Intersection principle.
Ⅲ: “Point and azimuth”. Via one known point, the known distance between it and the target
point and the angle from connection of known point and target point to North Direction, the
solution can be worked out by Forward Intersection principle.
Ⅳ: “End and start points and interval”. Via known the first and the last point, and the
distance between them, you can record a series of points by the distance.
Take I as an example:

58
Figure 4-85
Click “Get first point”, and then return to the main menu:

Figure 4-86
Then click “collect the second point” to do the second point collection.

little red circle indicates the offset point basic point solution. Click “ ” to record the offset
collection point.

Process of post-processing kinematic collection (post difference) is similar as real time difference
collection and no requirement to login in internet server for post difference.
In addition, the below points need to be paid more attention:
1. You should turn on the base and handset for 5~10 minutes in advance for initialization.
2. Make sure that handset can receive the satellite signal. In case of losing signal, proceed
collection in 5~10 minutes after being tracked signal. And you’d better maintain more than 5
satellites connection during collection.

70
3. Finish all ground object collection, continue collection about 5 more minutes then end
collection.
4. You should use HDS2003 to do high-precision data process for zgs files and zhd files
collected data before processing it by Hi-Q Tools. You can find Details in Hi-Q Tools
Manual

4.10 Data Storage and Download

You don’t need to choose one save path for date you collect. It will be automatically
saved into “NandFlash” folder. After we collect data it will be a new “Project” folder created
in the “NandFlash” folder. If we are doing real time collection it will be a “RTD” folder
created in the “Project” folder to store real time collected data; If we are doing Post Process
Collection, it will create “PostDiff” folder in the “Project” Folder to store post difference data;
Similarly, “Static” Folder will be created in “Project” folder to store static data.
If you need to use the data you collected. You only need to find the “Project” folder in
“NandFlash” folder. (as figure show hereunder)
