I recently had a few business offers that I was contemplating—some of
which would have created more financial freedom—and more ways to
create a legacy for myself.
I was struggling with the decision because of the constant pressure to
succeed in life. But then I thought… What would happen if I took these
offers? Would I have less time to play Legos with my son (They are so
expensive!!! Can I get some stock options please!!!)? Would I be less
patient to hear from my wife or my daughter as they tell me how their
day went?

On February 13 as Northside Vibes’ Editor-in-Chief was on her way
home, she witnessed the most precious act of kindness she has seen in a
longtime…and…what made it even more special was because it was from
an 18 year old young man, ANDY GODOY! Initially she, as well as
other travelers, couldn’t figure out what was going on, but then the obvi-
ous happened. Mr. Godoy stopped his car blocking two lanes of traffic,
exited and approached an elderly woman with a walking cane who was
standing on the medium strip (dangerous!). We thought perhaps it was
one of his relatives but learned later there was no relation whatsoever.
When Andy was asked “why” he stopped to help, he responded, “Because
it was the right thing to do. It’s so cold outside and I didn’t want anything
bad to happen to her while crossing the street. I was taught to do what’s
right, be kind to others, and help people.” Andy is the son of Pastor Felipe
Godoy, Iglesia Pentecostal, which is located at 5739 Hull Street Road,
Richmond, Virginia. Pastor Godoy, you should be very proud of your
son for he is truly one special young man! God Bless you all!

NEIGHBORS GROWING TOGETHER

GOOD NEWS from JAMES RIVER HIGH SCHOOL
As part of the Leadership and International Relations Center curriculum,
we are tasked with creating a 60-hour service project that embodies the
four cornerstones of leadership: perspectives, communications, ethics,
and service. We met the summer before freshman year at Leadership
orientation, but took different classes. Sophomore year, we had similar
schedules and would often help each other with Chemistry homework.
Then, after both separately attending a “How to Pick A Capstone Part-
ner” seminar towards the end of junior year, we happened to run into
each other in the hallway. We spoke for a minute and realized that one
of us had a cause to support and the other had an event idea. We knew
that partnership was a possibility because of our compatible personali-
ties and our ability to laugh off stressful situations. After thinking it o-
ver, we shook hands, became Capstone Partners, and evolved into
