Labsheet 1: Basics of Computer Aided Drafting

Objective: To learn the basics of drafting under AutoCAD

Instructions: Please follow all the instructions accordingly and carry out the exercises
and assignment given.

Lab Exercise 1

1. Start your AutoCAD software in your computer.

2. Input the following into AutoCAD to draw a shape using the line command and relative
coordinates:

Command: line (or simply "l")

First point: 9,9

Point A @-5,-2.5

Point B @0,-1.5

Point C @4<230

Point D @-1.5,-2
Point E @4.5,1.5

Point F @1.5<90

Point G @2<335

Point H @2.5<120

Point I @5.5<330
 Point J @1,1

PointK @-2.5,1

Point L @-.5,-.5

Point M @3<151

Point N @3.8125,0

Point O Close (or "c")

3. Label each point (from A to O) with dtext command (height 0.35).

4. Type anywhere in the drawing with size larger than

0.35 with the following text: I'm [your name].

This is my first AutoCAD drawing.

5. Save the drawing with filename [your matric number]-ex1

For instance, your matric number is AB123456. Then your filename should be
AB123456-ex1
