TEST ADMINISTRATION AT COLLEGE LEVEL.

SUBJECT: 20 STUDENT TEACHERS.

1. INTRODUCTION
A psychological test is an objective and standardized measure of a
sample of behavior. The term sample of behavior refers to an individual’s
performance on tasks that have usually been perescribedbeforehard
performance of these items produce a test score. A score on a well
constructed test is believed to reflect a psychological construct such as
achievement in a school subject, cognitive, ability, aptitude, emotional
functioning, personality etc.
Differences on test score are thought to reflect individual differences
in the construct the test is supposed to measure.

STUDY SKILLS

Study skills are an array of skills which tackle the process of


organizing and taking in new information, retaining information, or dealing with
assessments.

Some of the strategies for study skills are listed below.

 REDUCE INTERFERENCE: The better you know the material,


the less likely that interference will occur. Another way is to make
it meaningful get adequate sleep etc.
 SPACE IT OUT: Trying to learn all the material, in one study
session is called cramming. It is poor way to learn.
 USE WHOLE AND PART LEARNING: The third best way
knows when to break up the material.
 RECITE IT: Saying back to yourself the information you just
learned.
 USE A STUDY SYSTEM: A standard method of approaching the
study of any material like review, recite, question etc.
AIM
To assess the study skill of student teachers of SN COLLEGE OF
EDUCATION.20samples are taken for study.

SUBJECT

20 student teachers of SN COLLEGE of education were selected. The


20 student teachers differed in their age and educational qualification.Theywere
randomly selected from among 92 student teachers.

2. METHOD
2A)MATERIALS REQUIRED
Questionnaire of the study: It consists of 52 questions related to
the study habits. The answers will be YES/NO. For positive
questions YES carried one mark and for negative questions NO
carried one mark.
RESPONDANT SHEET: Helped to analyze the study skills of
20 student teachers. 32 questions were related to general study
methods. 33-35 questions were related to classroom skills. 37-
39 were homework related questions and 40-52 were regarding
examination.
Scoring key was prepared based on the YES/NO questions.

52 items were given in questionnaire. Positive questions and
negative questions were there.

Questions 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15 are given 1 mark if ‘yes’ is the


answer

Questions 17,19,20,21,23,25,26,27,28,31 are given zero mark if ‘NO’ is the


answer.

Questions 32,33,34,36,37,38,39,40,42,45,46,47,8,10,16,18,22,24,27,30, are


given zero mark if ‘YES’ is the answer

Questions 35, 41, 43,44,48,49,50,51,52 are given one mark if ‘NO’ is the
answer

2C) PROCEDURE

The student teachers were made to sit comfortably. After initial discussion and
explanation questionnaire was distributed. The student teachers co-operated
well. After filling up the answers the questionnaire was returned for analysis

DISCUSSION

Interpretation of data

Analysis was done to find out the study habit of the student teachers. First
question was when do you study? Is it in morning, evening, morning and
evening or not every day? 8/20 answered either in morning or evening 12/20
answered they do not study every day. Second question was I learn more than
one subject per day. 9 students said No and 11 students responded Yes.
The third statement was about setting a goal before studying and try to obtain
it. All of them said Yes. Fourth statement was I gather required material when I
start studying. 13/20 responded No and 7 said Yes. The fifth statement
enveloping by a feeling of gloom was responded positively only by there
people.
14/20 students take a note while teacher taking class. 6/20 students discuss
lesson with friends. None of them talk during class hours. Only 3/20 recalls
what is taught at end of every class. None of them make not of homework for
next day. Most of them do home work by themselves.

3/20 students practice writing important answers before exam. 12/20


students learn only those answers that are likely to be questioned. None of them
practice arithmetic sum before exam. None of them learn without taking rest.
12/20 students recollect the answer before writing. 6/20 people only revise their
answers before submitting. 5/20 student responded positively about their
household chores. 2/20 responded that their home environment is noisy. None
of them complaint about parents encouragement. None of them said ‘YES’ to
statement I am not interested in studies as my teacher do not give me
encouragement.
CONCLUSION

1. Among 20 student teachers 6 student teachers have above 30 scores and


have good study skills above the cut off score.
2. Among 20, 2 student teachers have exact 30 score and they also came
under those who have study skills.
3. Among 20, 12 student teachers have below 30 score and do not possess
good study skills.

Study skills affect the level of academic process.
