The allowances of Moorabool Shire Councillors are up for review – and residents are being
asked to make submissions on how many dollars go into their pockets.
The review was supposed to have been conducted in June last year, within six months of the
previous general council election – however, that review was missed, and instead was put
before the recent February meeting.
The Councillor annual allowance is $24,730, and the Mayor annual allowance is $76,521.
Following recently announced changes by the state government’s Minister for Local
Government, there will be an additional payment of the equivalent of the superannuation
guarantee contribution paid to councillors and the mayor.

A report will be brought back to the April council meeting, which will include any
submissions made to the allowances review, after which the allowances will be set and
