1. China was elected as vice chair of Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global body mandated
to combat terror financing and money laundering.

2. Indian Navy is going to host 16 countries for multi-national 2018 MILAN exercise at Port Blair
in Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) islands from March 6 to 13, 2018. 8-day mega naval exercise
will be held under aegis of Andaman and Nicobar Command with theme of ‘Friendship Across
the Seas’ .

3. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the nodal authority for issuing Aadhaar cards
has rollout ‘Bal Aadhaar’, meant for kids under 5 years of age. Bal Aadhaar literally means Kid’s
Aadhaar. It will have blue colour to differentiate it with regular Aadhaar. It will be linked with
one of parent’s Aadhaar card. No biometric details will be captured.

4. 15th edition of BioAsia, the annual flagship event of the Government of Telangana, was held
Hyderabad. Theme:- “Right Time, Right Now”

5. Tamil Nadu Government announced signing an agreement with Microsoft to improve the
integration of technology in teaching and learning in the state.

6. Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully flown its
Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle "RUSTOM 2" in Karnataka.

7. Parupalli Kashyap overcame Malaysia's June Wei Cheam in straight games in the men's
singles final to clinch the Austrian Open International Challenge, his 1st international title in
over three years.

1.Today (28th February 2018) is National Science Day .On this day, the nation pays tributes to
the legacy of the great scientist, Dr C V Raman, who brought Nobel Prize in Science to Asia and
India for the 1st time for his ground-breaking achievement of the Raman effect. Theme:-
"Science and Technology for a sustainable future."
2. Reserve Bank raised the exposure limit under exchange traded currency derivatives (ETCD)
trading for residents and foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) to USD 100 million across all currency
pairs involving the Indian rupee .

3. 20-times Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has won the 2017 Laureus World Sportsman
of the Year and Comeback of the Year awards. At the 18th edition of the awards ceremony in
Monaco. Serena Williams took home the World Sportswoman of the Year award after winning
her 23rd grand slam in 2017.

4.Archaeologist and historian Arvind P. Jamkhedkar has been appointed as the next Chairman
of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR). He is going to replace the present Chairman
K. Sudershan Rao.

5.E-commerce major Amazon India launched its ad-free music streaming service, Amazon Prime
Music , for the Prime members, at no extra-cost.

6. Aircel announced it has filed for bankruptcy as the company has been facing "troubled times"
in "highly financially stressed" industry.

7.Ministry of Railways has launched SRIJAN (Station Rejuvenation through Joint ActioN), an idea
competition for development of 635 railway stations. It was launched on MyGov portal by
Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC).

1. Moody's Investors Service has estimated that India's GDP will grow 7.6% in the calendar year
2018 and 7.5% in 2019, amid signs of economic recovery from the impact of demonetisation
and GST.

2. World’s largest solar park , Shakti Sthala, was inaugurated in Karnataka's Pavagada. The park
has a 2000-MW capacity and was built at a cost of ₹16,500 crore, over 13,000 acres across five
villages.

3. Defence Ministry has started the process to set up the country’s 1st Defence Industrial
Corridor – ‘Quad’ or quadrilateral corridor will connect Chennai , Hosur , Coimbatore , Salem
and Tiruchirappalli of Tamil Nadu to promote industries manufacturing weapons and military
equipment.
4. Haryana government approved a proposal to enact a law providing for capital punishment to
those found guilty of sexually abusing girls aged 12 years or below . This will entail amending
provisions under Section 376 that relate to rape, Section 354 (assault or criminal force against
woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and 354D (2) (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code.

5. Chilika lake in Odisha has emerged as the single largest habitat of Irrawaddy dolphins in the
world with the spotting of 155 such animals.

6. Retirement fund body EPFO has made it mandatory to file online claims for provident fund
withdrawals above Rs 10 lakh , taking another step towards becoming a paperless organisation.
The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has also made it mandatory to file online
claims for withdrawals of above Rs 5 lakh under the Employees Pension Scheme 1995 .

7.Senior IAS officer Sudhir Tripathy is to be appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Jharkhand.
He will be succeeding the incumbent Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma who is retiring on Feb end.

1. 22nd World Information Technology Congress (WITC) 2018 was held at Hyderabad
(Telangana). Theme:- Future Enterprises .

Note :- India is hosted WITC for the first time.

2. Central Government approved projects worth over Rs 2,900 crore under the Nirbhaya fund
for eight major cities of the country in a bid to make them safer for women. Name of the
cities:- Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad Ahmedabad and Lucknow

3. Wadhwani AI , India’s first research institute dedicated to developing artificial intelligence


solutions for social good was inaugurated in Mumbai.

4. China has topped the Hurun Global Rich List 2018 with 819 billionaires, beating the United
States which had 571 billionaires. India replaced Germany to reclaim the 3rd spot in the list
with 131 billionaires.

5. International Olympic Committee (IOC) restored Russia's Olympic membership with


immediate effect following its suspension from the Winter Olympics at Pyeongchang in South
Korea. Russia was banned from February's Games by the IOC over state-sponsored doping.
6.Indian women’s Twenty20 cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur joined the Punjab police
as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

7. Paytm has emerged as the largest contributor to the overall volume of UPI transactions in
February 2018. This is within two months after the full roll-out in January

1. Union Government approved establishment of National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA)


as an independent regulator for the auditing profession.

It aims to tighten regulatory oversight over auditors and plug loopholes. It will be independent
from those it regulates for enforcement of auditing standards and ensuring quality of audits.

2. Union Government has approved introduction of Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018 in
Parliament. The bill proposed by Finance Ministry aims to curb practice of evading criminal
prosecution by economic offenders (wilful defaulters) who flee from country to evade clutches
Indian law by remaining outside jurisdiction of Indian courts.

3. Navjot Kaur has clinched the 1st gold medal for India in the Asian Wrestling championship in
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

4. HCL Infosystems Ltd. has appointed Rangarajan Raghavan, as its Director and Managing
Director. Rangarajan Raghavan is the president of HCL Infosystems Ltd.

5. In a first, the Maharashtra government has announced a collaboration with online


encyclopedia Wikipedia to promote Marathi globally and increase its online usage.

6. 27th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Hockey tournament begins in the Malaysian city of Ipoh. Six
nations – India, hosts Malaysia, defending champions England, Australia, Argentina and Ireland
– are taking part in the tournament.

1.Today (4th March) is National Safety Day . National Safety Week is being observed from 4th

2. India, Bangladesh and Russia have signed tripartite an MoU for cooperation in construction
of Rooppur nuclear power plant near Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is first initiative under India-Russia
nuclear deal to undertake atomic energy projects in third countries. It will also be India’s 1st
atomic energy venture abroad.

3. Indian Navy’s sailboat INSV Tarini , led by all-women crew, reached Cape Town, South Africa
as part of Navika Sagar Parikrama expedition. This stop is last phase of its maiden voyage to
circumnavigate globe before it depart Cape Town and return to Goa in April 2018, on
completion of the voyage.

4. Global Digital Health Partnership Summit was held at Canberra (Australia). India was
represented by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, J P Nadda .

5. Odisha government has launched a programme Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas (Our Village, our
development) to reach out to the people in rural areas and involve themselves in the
developmental activities.

6. Indian shooter Shahzar Rizvi clinched gold with a world record score while Jitu Rai grabbed
bronze in 10m air pistol men's final in the ISSF World Cup at Guadalajara in Mexico.
7. Former President Pranab Mukherjee was conferred the D.Litt by the Indian Institute of
Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST).
