Content Standard: MS-LS2-3. The students understand the defining boundaries of the
ecosystem and the flow of energy associated with an ecosystem.
Lesson Objective: Students will learn to describe the different parts of the ecosystem and give
examples.
Essential Questions: Are all ecosystems the same? Big Idea: Ecosystems describe a
community of living organisms in their natural environments.
Key Vocabulary: Ecosystem, biome, habitat, decomposer
Pre-Assessment: Day before – Do worksheet on ecosystems to see what students already
