1. SCOPE OF THIS CALCULATION SHEET
The document deals with the Structural analysis and design of the Fuel Gas Coalescer Platform
foundation for YANPET U-10 Project situated in Yanbu Al-Sinayiah. The scope of this report is to
present the structural design of the Platform foundation, which includes the following:
The design of the civil/structural works will be in accordance with the following laws, rules and
applicable standards:
- ACI – 318- 1995(Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary,
1995)
- PIP STE03350 (Vertical Vessel Foundation Design Guide)

Plain Cement Concrete 21 Mpa
The applied Computer Program is STAAD.Pro V8i, with ACI-318, using Allowable Strength Design
and strength Design.
Basic loads were applied in the model and all the critical load combinations were considered in the
analysis and design of the foundation. The structure was analysed using STAAD. Pro for different
load combinations identified as per ASCE7-05. The foundation and Filter Pedestal were designed
by manual calculations as per ACI 318-1995.
The coordinate system used in the STAAD model was chosen as follows:
Structures shall be designed to have sufficient structural capacity and integrity to resist safely and
effectively all loads and effects of loads and influences that may reasonably be expected.

5 Primary WL(+x) WIND LOADS @ X+ DIR. (WLx+)
6 Primary WL(-x) WIND LOADS @ X- DIR. (WLx-)
7 Primary WL(+z) WIND LOADS @ Z+ DIR. (WLz+)
8 Primary WL(-z) WIND LOADS @ Z- DIR. (WLz-)
9 Primary TL THERMAL LOADS (TL)
The load combinations are considered as per 2M-001 & factors are considered as per ASCE -07-02

1.8 STRENGTH DESIGN LOAD COMBINATIONS
The load combinations are considered as per 2M-001 & factors are considered as per ASCE -07-02
2. DESIGN LOADS
Dead load shall be the weight of materials forming the permanent part of the structure.
Unit weight of major construction materials shall be as follows:
6
2.2 LIVE LOAD
Live load for platform area is considered as 3.6 kN/m2 as per the document “PIP STC01015 Structural
Design Criteria”.
The Live load for pedestal is applied by using the Platform steel structure analysis & design
(STAAD File)
The Wind, seismic & thermal loads for pedestal is applied by using the Platform steel structure
analysis & design (STAAD File)
