*MISSION TRIP YOUTH*

ATTENTION: All Youth & Adults that went on the Mission Trip this past Summer. Please keep Sun-
day morning, October 3rd open to help lead the services & PACE. You will tell all about your great
experience in Denver! Let’s plan on meeting the week before to plan this. I will send out an e-mail end
of Sept. about this to you!

*BIBLE STUDY “AMBS”*

Our AMBS Wednesday morning Bible Study will resume on Wed. morning, SEPT. 15 th at 7am. This is
one week later this year because I am out of town the previous week. Please remember to bring a small
donation each week to help with breakfast costs. Get ready for some new breakfast recipes I’ll be try-
ing out on YOU!!! See you then!

*CONFIRMATION*
Confirmation will begin on Wednesday, September 15 th at 7:15pm. This first confirmation day will be
for ALL Parents & their Youth. A Confirmation calendar will be received this night. All the following
Confirmation classes are held each Wed. night from 7:15pm -8:15pm. See you then.

*SUNDAY SCHOOL 2010*

Our new Sunday School year begins on Sunday, Sept. 12 th for a preview day to find all the Sunday
School rooms, get info., meet some of the teachers, have some fun snacks, & sing some fun songs! The
Sunday School hour is from 9:15 to 10:15am each Sunday. This is for ages 3yr to 7 th grade. If you
have not been contacted to help with our Sunday School program, & would like to help in anyway,
please contact Cindy Wilson.

For 13 years I would begin to think about heading back into the classroom as
fall approached. There was excitement to start a new year, but also a regret that the
summer was over. 29 years later, I am experiencing the same feelings. I am excited to
be back and ready to get into the parish, but my summer sabbatical was fantastic. I first
of all want to thank you for the opportunity to spend 3 months learning, renewing, and
reevaluating. I will go into more details about my time in Europe, Wisconsin, and
Michigan as the PACE program can fit me in.
But back to the new start of school and the beginning of the Fall Season. I
think of the students and school district employees getting back into the swing of
things. I think of the parents getting the kids ready for a new start. There is anticipa-
tion, excitement, and yes, nervousness. Yet like our life in Christ, we are given a new
beginning and the opportunity to explore who God has created us to be. We can exam-
ine the gifts we all have been given and develop them to reach out in service to make
our homes, church, and community a better place to be.
I encourage each of us to reflect on the summer with all its ups and downs, joys
and sadness and know that wherever our journey takes us we are not alone. God is
with us to uphold, strengthen, and guide us. Embrace your new beginning each and
every day.

CHOIR! Senior Choir resumes Wednesday, Sept. 8 @7:15 pm in the lower level
choir room. New voices are always welcome; consider this your personal invitation
to join us. Come and make beautiful music and have some fun.
Thank you for your gifts to support the Mission & Ministry of URLC. The total gifts as
of 8/15 are $177,766 to meet our budget of $330, 234 for 2010. Looking forward to Sun-
day, Sept. 12 Rally Sunday, as we get back to our normal schedule and somewhat cooler
weather. Remember my message about replacing the church roof? It will happen in Sep-
tember at no cost to us. Please note the new coat hanger by the elevator. We may want to
let the users of the elevator avail themselves of it, as there is a place to sit & the area is less
congested. Thank you for the gift to URLC.
Our United Redeemer Prayer Shawl ministry was started in 2007 to comfort!
The shawl or lap robe is “God’s Hug” for the person facing sickness or adversity.
It is meant to enfold, give hope, solace, peace, healing, strength, and comfort from
God to the person who receives it. The knitter prays as she works, blessing the
shawl, and praying for the person that will be receiving the shawl or lap robe.
Our Pastors have given 31 shawls and lap robes since the Prayer Shawl Ministry
began. Anyone is welcome to join us in this ministry. If you wish to knit a shawl
or crochet a lap robe, call 507-732-7028 [MaryAnn Urban] for a pattern. Leave the
robe at Pastor Susan’s office to get a label sewn in before the Pastor gives it to
someone.
Here is the prayer that is sewn into the corner of the shawl/lap robe:
This shawl was knit with hope and love
With many prayers sent up above.
And when it keeps you warm each day,
Remember it’s for you we pray.

The summer schedule will end with the last park service on September 5th
at 7:45 am and at the church at 9:30am. Rally Day is September 12 and we
revert back to the regular schedule of 8:00 am & 10:30 am worship.
