CONDITIONING

Objects of conditioning are as follows:-


1. To increase the moisture % of the cone/cheese.

2. To increase the weight of the package up to the 2%

3. To improve yarn quality by reducing the hairiness.

Process of yarn conditioning:-
1. First U.V lamp checking is done. For the detection of count mixing, contamination, black
ring etc.
2. The conditioning is done in the XORELLA machine made in Switzerland according to
requirement of conditioning. The conditioning is done for increasing the moisture and
weight of cone. Near about 25-30gm weight is increased in conditioning per package. It also
increases the tightness of cone.
3. After that table checking is done. It checks package faults like without tail end, dirty cone,
without sticker, damaged paper cone, cross end, cut end, loose cone.

TFO (Two for one)

What TFO should do?


1. It should be produce a stronger yarn by application of twist between two yarns.

2. It should improve hairiness.

3. It should improve yarn irregularity.

4. It should improve yarn characteristics i.e. elongation.

What TFO should not do?


1. It shouldn’t produce the too compact cone than recommended due to faulty setting and
vice versa.
2. It should not vary tension variation within the cone.

Principle:-
One spindle revolution inserts two tubers into the yarn. The yarn receives the first turn
between multi-tension device and outlet of the spindle pot. And the second turn inserted in the
yarn balloon between spindle motor and balloon yarn guide.
Yarn path the winding position:-
The yarn is unwound assist by unwinding aids from the feed package placed into the
stationary spindle pot.

It passes into the hollow center through the multi-tension device into the hallow shaft
of the rotating spindle. In hollow shaft, the yarn is broken by a multi-tension device, leaves the
hollow shaft at the centre of the spindle at right angles & enters the spindle rotor. The yarn is
then deflected around the reverse disc and rotates as a yarn balloon around the spindle pot.

The yarn balloon is limited in height by the balloon guide (pig tail) and depending on
the machine model, in diameter by a balloon limiter. The yarn is then passes over a deflection
roll device to the pre- take up roll. Finally the traverse guide lays the yarn onto the take –up yarn
package driven by the package drive roll.

Drive to machine:-
Machine consists of two function blocks:
Drive unit (1) with motor intermediate drive pulley, control cabinet, displays with
operating element & the gear box with the drive for the take –up area.

Machine section (2) with the twisting position for processing feed package (5) & (6)
to cross wound delivery package 6 with a maximum diameter up to 280 mm.

Power scheme:-
The drive power to the tangential spindle belt is transmitted from the motor via. An
intermediate transmission unit.

The intermediate transmission unit device via. A timing belt also the gear box.

The power flow is split in the gear box to drive:

1. Pre take up roll.

2. Yarns take up assembly.

3. Transverse thread guide.

Parts of two - for - one twister:-

1) Spindle drive & brake assembly:-


The spindle is driven by the tangential spindle belt which is pressed against
the spindle where by belt guide pulleys the spindle can be stopped by the foot levers.

2) Spindle :-
1. Two-for- one spindle consist of spindle bearing with spindle rotor-
2. The spindle pot to hold the untwisted feed package.

3) Spindle rotor with reserve disc and deflection plate :-


The reserves disc of the spindle rotor serves to hold the yarn reserve to
compensate variations in tension Caused by yarn untwisting condition of the feed
package. The amount of yarn reserve is influenced by the multi-tension device and the
spindle speed. The deflection plate guides the yarn into the balloon.

4) Spindle pot :-
The spindle pot serves to hold the untwisted feed package. The bearing of the
spindle pot is clamped and it’s on the hollow shaft of spindle rotor.
The spindle pot is held in position and prevented from rotating together with
the spindle rotor by magnet system. The correct position is indicated by a mark on the spindle
pot and must point towards the center of the machine.
5) Multi tension device:-
It influences on unwinding tension and allows the yarn wrap around the
reserve disc to be controlled. Four different breaking forces are available for the tension capsule.
The tension intensity can be adjusted in six steps with the entry tube of the multi-tension device.

Separator:-
The separator is located between the individual twisting positioned and prevents
yarn ends straying into the vicinity of neighboring twisting position.

1) Balloon yarn guide:-


The balloon yarn guide controls the height and shape of the yarn balloon. The
setting is performed for both sides per machine section correct adjustment ensures.

2) Falling lever:-
The yarn feeder lies against the yarn when the spindle is running. In the event
of yarn breakage, the feeder falls forward, catches the yarn end with notched catch and prevents
more yarn being pulled of the feed package as well as from continuing to migrate into the
spindle.

3) Deflection roller:-
The yarn deflection system guides the tarn coming from the balloon yarn guide
over on adjustable deflection roll to the pre-take up roll. The adjustable deflection roll varies the
warp angle around the pre-take up roll. Thus allowing the yarn take up tension and thus the
density of the controlled package cradle normal pressure.

1. A large wrap angle reduces the take up tension and produces a softener take up package.

2. A small wrap angle increase the take up tension and produce a harder take up package.

4) Pre take up roller:-


It reduces the balloon tension to the desired take – up tension, depending on the wrap
angle around the pre-take up roll.

The circumferential speed of the pre-take up roll is 60% higher than the circumferential
speed of the package drive roll. Different pre-take up speeds are available on request changing
the pre-take up speed.

5) Waxing device:-
The waxing device produced by the thread driven waxing device reduces the
coefficient of friction of the yarn for further processing.

6) Traverse thread guide :-


The yarn displacement onto the cross- wound package is controlled by
the traverse thread angle. The standard crossing angle is 38˚.

7) Yarn take up assembly :-


The twisted yarn package is driven by friction from the package drive roll.
The relationship between twice the spindle speed and the preset take up speed determines the
amount of twist in the yarn. The yarn twist is expressed in turns per unit of length.

8) Package cradle :-
The package cradle holds the cross wound the package & can be adjusted to
6" standard take up tube length and type’s cylindrical or conical tubes up to 5 can be used. The
maximum yarn package diameter is 280mm.The left hand arm of the cradle is pivoted to allow
loading of the cradle. The package cradle can be raised to its highest position and locked for
removal of the cross wound package.

9) Centering disc:-
The centering discs center the take up tubes in the package cradle. They
are mounted on a ball joint and are easily interchangeable at any time.

10) Overhead creel:-


The package creel enables package and tubes to be stored in the
immediate vicinity of the twisting positions.
