Critique on “Acceleration-based Wave Motion Compensation on Ship Mounted Weaponry”

What made this project great, for me, is the use of assembly language. It helps improve the
timing and response since it is a low-level language or a language that does not need much translation
compared to what is commonly used for microcontroller programming, C++. What I think could have
made this better is using PID or the algorithm used in stabilizing camera gimbals as the algorithms can
further reduce the errors with the correct parameters especially when a weapon is actually in place.
However, the enough accuracy depends on the distance and the size of the objects. For extremely
accurate applications like this, this, most likely, is great for long distance applications where a small
fraction of change in error can cause a huge error in physical distance (For instance, our longitude and
latitude system is rounded off to a huge number of decimal places because of this concept). This can
further be improved with horizontal stabilization to proper utilize the features of the gyroscope, as well
as the overall stabilization of the system, also the actual use of projectiles and arcs, or the weapon itself.

This research is interesting as this can be further improved for military purposes. The
Philippines need more of these researches to create more advanced technologies which can be applied
for the use of the Armed forces, in other applications as consumer products, or it can be used as
references for future researches.
