How to model a Peddle in SolidWorks?
In this tutorial you will learn the following features:

 Draw a 2d sketch
 Extrude
 Revolve
 Dome
 Linear Pattern
 Fillet
 Chamfer

Create a new part

Open a new part with model units set to


millimeters.

Go to: File > New > Part

Select the three planes in the feature tree and


make them visible by clicking on the glasses.

Create a 2D sketch

Select the Front Plane and create a sketch by clicking on the 2D Sketch icon

Draw the sketch as shown in the picture with 5 lines and 2 splines.

Extrude the sketch

Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude or click at the Extrude icon

Direction : Blind

Change : into 8 mm

Click OK

Create a fillet on the four corners of the peddle

Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click at the Fillet icon

Select the two edges as shown in the picture.

Change the Radius into 60 mm

Click OK

Create a fillet on the four corners of the peddle

Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click at the Fillet icon

Select the two edges as shown in the picture.

Change the Radius into 17.50 mm

Click OK

Create a 2D sketch

Select the front surface of Extrude1 and create a sketch by clicking on the 2D Sketch icon

Draw the sketch as shown in the picture.

Extrude the sketch

Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude or click at the Extrude icon

Direction : Blind

Change : into 20 mm

Click OK

Create a Fillet

Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click at the Fillet icon

Select the two surfaces as shown in the picture.

Change the Radius into 1 mm

Click OK

Create a new plane parallel at the Top Plane

Go to: Insert > Reference Geometry > Plane

Select the Top Plane as shown in the picture.

Change the Offset Distance into 17,5 mm.

Ensure that the offset is directed to above.

If not, click “Reverse direction”

Click OK

Create a 2D sketch

Select the new Plane and create a sketch by clicking on the 2D Sketch icon

Draw the sketch as shown in the picture.

Create a Revolved Boss/Base

Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Revolve or click at the Revolve icon

Axis of revolution: Select the blue line as shown in the picture.

Click OK

Create a Dome

Go to: Insert > Feature > Dome or click at the Dome icon

Select the green face of Revolve1.

Change the Distance into 3 mm.

Don’t select the Elliptical dome option

Click OK

Create a fillet on the four corners of the peddle

Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click at the Fillet icon

Select the blue edges and surface as shown in the picture.

Change the Radius into 1 mm

Click OK

Create a 2D sketch

Select the blue surface and create a new sketch

Draw the sketch as shown in the picture.

Extrude the sketch

Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude or click at the Extrude icon

Direction : Blind

Change : into 100 mm

Click OK

Create a Chamfer

Go to: Insert > Features > Chamfer or click at the Chamfer icon

Select one green edge of Extrude3 as shown in the picture.

Select the “Distance – distance” option.

: 16 mm

: 9 mm

Click OK

Create another Chamfer

Go to: Insert > Features > Chamfer or click at the Chamfer icon

Select one green edge of Extrude3 as shown in the picture.

Select the “Distance – distance” option.

: 16 mm

: 7,5 mm

Click OK

Create a new plane parallel at the Front Plane

Go to: Insert > Reference Geometry > Plane

Select the pink surface as shown in the picture.

Change the Offset Distance into 20 mm.

Ensure that the offset is directed to above.

If not, click “Reverse direction”

Click OK

Create a 2D sketch

Select the new Plane1 and create a sketch by clicking on the 2D Sketch icon

Draw the sketch as shown in the picture.

Extrude the sketch

Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude or click at the Extrude icon

Direction : Blind

Change : into 2.5 mm

Click OK

Create a Linear Pattern

Go to: Insert > Pattern/Mirror > Linear Pattern


or click at the Linear Pattern icon

Select an edge that lies parallel at the direction of the pattern.


This could be the green line as shown in the picture.

Change into: 20 mm

Number of Instances :4

Features to pattern : Extrude4

Click OK

Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click at the Fillet icon

Select the blue surfaces as shown in the picture.

Change the Radius into 1 mm

Click OK

Hide all planes and sketches

Save the Peddle.SLDPRT file
